Guest Deadbolt Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Think about it, WM19 had none at all, and all of WM20's cross-brand matches made total sense. Brock/Goldberg was a match that had to happen just because of the comparisons made between them, and Kane/Taker was the perfect match for Taker to ressurect the Deadman gimmick with. The thing is, i can really only see one possibility that makes as much sense this year, and that's Kane/Taker vs Snitsky/Heidenreich. So are we really going to get any of these this year? Should we? A year doesn't seem to be as long as it used to be, especially since the brand extension cuts storyline time in half. So really, two years is roughly equal to one old year in the amount of storylines we see. So do we really want to keep throwing cross-brand matches up every wrestlemania? Surely keeping them for every two or three years would keep them feeling as special as the ones at WM20 did.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Most cross-brand matches (in fact, all except Taker vs Kane, as far as I can remember) were only built a couple of months prior to Wrestlemania. We haven't had the Rumble yet, so I think it is a little too early to sit back and say nothing makes sense or you can't see anything happening yet when neither brand has had the opportunity to be on the same show yet. Jericho & Benoit are pretty much left out in the cold with the wolves right now, so I expect them to probably lock up with some Smackdown talent.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 I think kane/Ut vs generic hoss1/generic hoss2 is a given. But one interpromotional match that many thought was gonna happen, might not. HBK vs Kurt Angle. It looks as though HBK is caught up with Edge, and will probably be at WM. So i think we may only have one co-brand match this year. and it will suck. As for Jericho and Benoit. I think they will be in the Tag Team division since they beat the piss outta Christian and Tomko on Raw. That was probably to establish them as a tag team. Eugene is hurt. So regal will pick another partner or drop the belts himself to some heel team. Probably the frenchies again. then jericho and benoit can beat em at WM. Enigma 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 One of the super dual-brand house shows in Alaska has The Undertaker & Kane vs. Heidenreich & Gene Snitsky, so I'd expect that to be slapped into Mania.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Not this really means anything (since we had no election for WWF President), but I think a press conference or stock holders meeting, Vince or Linda mentioned WrestleMania as the only PPV where fans could see interpromotional matches
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Well, if there will be any cross promotional stuff, we will see them materialize at the Royal Rumble. I hope the draft happens again this year. It always good to see new matchups by then.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 14, 2005 I'd suggest that Long and Bischoff challege each other to a Interbrand Best of 3 Series @ Mania. With the winner of the series getting the first selection of the upcoming draft. HBK Vs Kurt Angle CVC(Canadian Violence Connection) V LFC (Latino Flight Connection) Battle Royal gives us a logical reasoning for HBK/Angle & gives us a likely AWESOME CVC/LFC. and sets up other low/mid carders into a match to give them a paycheck with meaning. Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted January 14, 2005 I don't get why some people think Angle vs. Michaels is going to happen at WrestleMania. In my opinion, the backstage segment between Edge and Angle at Survivor Series further set up the Edge-HBK feud instead of planting the seeds for an Angle-HBK match. Other than that one passing comment, there's been no real indication for an Angle vs. Michaels match at WM. WWE aired footage of the press conference from Japan on Raw and SmackDown this week, but they didn't show footage of Angle and HBK's face-to-face confrontation. Guest Fook Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Don't forget, they'll have to include some stupid interpromotional diva thing with the 32453 new ones they have now because heaven knows that we can't have a Wrestlemania without some bimbo in her skivvies. Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 14, 2005 it's not that we think it will; we just WANT it to happen. HBK/Edge doesn't fit with Mania.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Unless Edge/HBK blow off their feud in the next 2 weeks, Angle/HBK isn't happening (Thank God. Imagine the no selling? Yeesh...)
Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Unless Edge/HBK blow off their feud in the next 2 weeks, Angle/HBK isn't happening (Thank God. Imagine the no selling? Yeesh...) As opposed to Edge's tremendous selling? Neither match would "draw" but Angle/HBK would definetly be better.
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted January 15, 2005 HBK/Edge doesn't fit with Mania. How do you figure? I think Edge vs. Michaels would better fit WrestleMania than something like Taker & Kane vs. Snitsky & Heidenreich or Benoit & Jericho vs. Eddie & Rey (as you suggested). That proposed Benoit & Jericho vs. Eddie & Rey match could be a WWE MOTYC, but does it really fit WM? With the way the feud has been building, a WM blowoff seems like the logical way to go. A win over Michaels at WWE's biggest PPV of the year could help establish Edge as a main event heel. Though Angle vs. Michaels may sound more appealing, it probably wouldn't do much in the long run. Both Angle and Michaels are established main eventers. A win for either man over the other wouldn't accomplish much, if anything.
