NFC Divisional Game #1: The thread

Recommended Posts

"What a great play by Michael Vick! He was risking serious injury by not fumbling! Pass the Kleenex!"

I also have a good feeling about the Eagles if they win tomorrow and play the Falcons as their defense is very similar to Tampa's(speed defense) and have done extremely well against Dunn in the past.

It's Vick's presense, man. After that big run, his mere presense has the Rams all fucked up. Vick is on their minds and they've stopped focusing on the Falcons as a whole.

What I've seen: The outside players are waiting for Vick to bootleg and they keep getting frozen when he hands the ball off.

The defenders are taking bad pursuit angles.

The Rams defenders are too slow getting to the point of attack because they're watching Vick.

Vick needs to tuck the ball like a running back does once he gets past the line of scrimmage. There's no sense in holding it like you're still going to pass it if you can't.

The ground can cause a fumble if you aren't touched down? hmm...i didn't know that.

He hit the ground because he tripped over his own feet. If a defender would have touched him before he went down, that wouldn't have been a fumble.

Michael Vick fumbled! He's the best quarterback in history!

His team has ran for over 200 yards in the first half and is winning 28-14 because of him. Stop hating.

I don't know about that one. The Eagles haven't played good football in about a month. I would hold off on that until you see them play tomorrow.

The play is still live if the player isn't touched down by an opposing player. Had he held on to the ball, he could have gotten up and started running again.

This game is reeeeeal anti-climatic.

This was the least interesting game heading into the weekend, so I didn't expect much.

I thought earlier that there wasn't any unit worse in the NFL than the Rams defense.

Of course, I forgot about the Rams' special teams. People wail on the Colts for being one-dimensional, but they look like a damn Escher painting compared to the St. Louis Rams.

Man, I had forgotten how absolutely horrible the Rams defense was.

At least the dream of an 8-8 NFC title game is now dead, thank God. Hopefully tomorrow's games aren't the clunkers today's was.

Are the Falcons that good? I've only seen them play 2 times this season, including tonight, and they have impressed me both times. And I no longer call Vick overrated after watching him run around like it was going out of business.

Do the Falcons have any chance of winning the SB, if they get that far? Or will the Steelers/Pats/Colts tear them apart?

You can't really tell with these guys. One week Vick goes nuts on the ground and doesn't make mistakes, the other he's 5/23, 2 INTs and 2 fumbles. For the Falcons to win, their D and special teams (and Warrick Dunn) has to carry them.

And ESPN is in full Vickjob mode right now.

Well that was fun, if you are a Falcons fan.

Great Performance by the Falcons tonight and hopefully they will play just as good next week.

I must say that even though Michael Vick is my personal GOD, even I can't handle the ESPN ass kissing. I can just imagine what it would be like if the Superbowl ended up being Colts/Falcons. The Manning/Vick ass kissing and hype would be unbearable, I might have to avoid ESPN for those two weeks.

Honestly it's hard for me to put too much into a game against the Rams defense. I however have the Falcons going to the Super Bowl, so may as well stay with the pick.

I think the Falcons can make it to the SB. Who they play will determine their chances however. The Pats or Steelers either one would devise a defense to neuter Vick and shut him down, and the game would likely get ugly. I'd rather see them vs. the Colts in a game of wild up and down scoring and excitement.

Sure this NFC game was a squash but how can you say the AFC game was a clunker? God, I was physically and emotionally drained after that wild game.

I'm sorry but I just have such a difficult time imagining the FALCONS in a Super Bowl, let alone winning one. Seeing the `98 Falcons beat quite possibly the most dominant offense I'd ever seen in my lifetime and go to a Super Bowl and then disappear was difficult enough.

Jim Mora Jr. sure knows how to win games, though. If only Vick would settle down and pass the ball that would be an unquestionably tough team to beat.

He will. He just needs to finish learning the new system and learning to trust said system.

Next year the receiving group of Crumpler, Price, Jenkins, Finneran and Dunn should help him trust in the system. Price needs a WR opposite him and Jenkins seems to be the guy.

I really don't like the Falcons or Michael Vick.....and I wish the Vick blowjobs would quit. But if he take the team to the SB at least they'd be justified. Right now they're just kind of "eh....."

I'm just tired of hearing "So and so is the best athlete in the NFL not named Michael Vick." Why do we assume he's automatically the best athlete?

Eh....The Eagles(after they beat Minn which i think they will)defense can shut Vick and his team down.

Besides it's hard to tell how good the Falcons are in this game b/c it's The Rams for god sake.

And just who in the NFL is a better athelete than Vick? Go ahead and list these better athletes you feel the NFL has. Vick does it all and does it for the entire game, so away with you.

No one.

I would love for the Falcons to go the Super Bowl against NE and see how that matchup would turn out (although they do meet next season).

Vick in the Suber Bowl would be a we dream come to reality for the NFL.

I don't know who's a better athlete. But I'm sure there is somebody in that entire league that can do something more amazingly athletic than Vick.

And besides it's hard to judge on the football field. Who's to say there's not a guy in the league that's a master gymnast? I think all of that is more athletic than what Vick does.

The point is we don't know out of the god knows how many players who can do what athletically.

Peerless Price makes Alvin Harper look like Michael Irvin. And, somehow, I don't quite see Jenkins as an instant No. 1 next year (or even the year after that).

Ultimately, you have to remember that they played the Rams defense yesterday. If Vick goes up against a defense like Philly that thrives on turnovers and causing havoc, he's going to have a lot of problems.

He doesn't run as fast as Vick, but for the fact hes atleast 75+ pounds bigger than him, Julius Pepers is one HELL of an athelete.

I recall there being a 185 lb kick returner for the jets that could bench something like 425. That's insane.

But Michael Vick is the best all around athlete. One of the strongest arms and one of the fastest pairs of legs makes this guy the best. I think he's hated on this board because of all the love he gets from TV shows, but really, he can be the greatest QB in the league if he let his arm develop and actually made some plays in the pocket. His arm is probably the strongest in the league, it's just that he doesn't really show it.
