Windows Media Player Upgrade problems.

Recommended Posts

I recently updated Windows Media Player to version 10. Now it won't play any video files. It plays the audio from the video files, but no visuals.

Anyone have similar problems? Any ideas?

Yeah, that would be a good thing to share. I haven't had this specific problem, but every now and then, files that played fine under v9 get an "error downloading codec" message under v10. And I'm pretty certain I have the important codecs, including the DiVX one.

Eh, my computer was just acting up. I cleared out my temp internet files and everything cleared up. I'm not sure why that helped though...

on a semi-related note, is there any way to downgrade? I had WM8 and i really liked it, at some point (auto update i guess?) it ended up going to 10, i hated it ad uninstalled it, and inexplicably, WM9 showed up. i dontl ike that either.

Anyone know how to do this?

media player classic doesn't have an option to adjust the brightness/contrast :( (at least mine doesn't, is there a newer version that does?). Half the videos I view usually require a little tweaking to see it right.

you can change brightness/contrast in the options of the used codec (example: right click on video--->filters--->XVID for XVID videos). For MPEG it can be changed in the MPC options itself. I use version 6.4.8.2
