tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2005 I dont know if anyone else out there is playing this game or not but if there not they should. The pros for it are as follows: Its fun Its very simple Its addictive Its funny as hell Its pure Japanese wackyness At the greatest hits price its cheap The cons are....well I cant find any. The concept as I already said is simple. Your father the ever wacky King of the Cosmos, pretty much gets drunk one night and destorys all the stars and puts the job of replacing them on you, The Prince. So you go to earth with a sticky ball called a Katamari that well gets things to stick to it when they are rolled over. The more stuff you run over the bigger the Katamari gets. You have to get it at a certian size by a certian time. Plus the only buttons you use while playing the game are the right and left analog sticks, L1 & R1, and with 100s of things that can be rolled up if you want to get everything on the game then there is tons of replay value. If you havent played this PS2 gem then you should get on the ball (Pun sort of intended) and give it a try....oh yeah another great thing about it is the fact that the cover of the case has cows and a rainbow...see its funny! Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 I thought there was a thread for this but I beat the game quickly and I am still playing it. It's a good deal for twenty bucks and the music is great.
Ced 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 I popped this in for my little cousins since all my other games are RPGs. They played for 3 hours straight and asked me to get it for them. It put a tear in my eye.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 The presents are what I suck at. I can't seem to find them in the levels except for the early ones. I guess I could FAQ them, but why bother? I'm still having a hell of a lot of fun. I like it the most when you're rolling up people. They try to run away but WHAM WHAM they're part of your Katamari and can't really do much about it. The translation and almost complete lack of "localization" is very quaint. Almost nothing is changed from the original version, including the whacky box arm. Kudos, Namco. There's already a sequel in the works, I'm glad to hear. EDIT: Anybody know why it's "Katamari Damashi" on the label? Just different, but still viable, pronunciation of the kanji? Special K 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2005 I started a thread about this a while ago, it's good to see people are picking up this little gem. Websites and mags really got the word out on this. It's perfect for giving to little kids for an hour. There's a simple sort of magic to the game. I will at times find myself singing the main theme. It's indelible once you hear it. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2005 I'm buying it today. The game looks so completely screwed in the head and it's so cheap in price that I just couldn't resist the insanity any longer. Rolling people and buildings up to make planets and only 20 bucks? How could I NOT buy it!
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2005 Actually you only make stars....but hey that dosent make it any less fun!
