Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2005 Yea, I just thought about this, when Matt Hardy was mentioned in the RAw thread. What exactly is WWE's indy working policy? Because as far as I knew one, they weren't really allowed to work indies, and the ones who did, well they didn't really have matches. (I mean, wouldn't they fear injury? Especially of someone just coming off an injury). I ask because this weekend, Matt Hardy was on LAW (somewhat local indy in VA/NC) and actually in a wrestling segment. I thought he was just gonna do the usual promote WWE..I guess it's no biggie that they'd let someone work an indy (especially someone inactive), but I didnt think they would let someone work at a televised show.. Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 25, 2005 Basically they are allowed to work for ANY promotion except TNA. However permission naturally is neccessary. This pratice is often done for the low carders who hardly are even used or workers coming off injuries. The non wrestler employed employees like Lawler, Dreamer, Snow, Foley(Not under 'contract' though) are free to work any promotion as long as it's not interfering with their WWE duty and isn't TNA. Matt Hardy obviously requested permission to kick off ring rust and was aided by the fact it was a local company, even if it was televised since likely it was saw by 100 people at the most since Indy promotions on the local slot are often obsecured late at night. You'll never see a "name" like Benoit or even Hurricane do a Indy show because they are too valueable. But a Non-visable on tv for 6 months working off ring rust Matt Hardy on a small town indy show is perfectly fine.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2005 Also, they can't appear on a national TV show - i.e. MLW on the Sunshine Network (Lawler was pulled when WWE learned he had worked for a company with syndicated TV) and WWE requiring that Stevie Richards not be shown on the 3PW Home Video when he returned to Viking Hall several months ago. I dont know about The Hurricane being more valueable then Matt Hardy. Im pretty sure that if The Hurricane had a injury and was off of TV for as long as Hardy he would be allowed to do it as well. natey2k4 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2005 The Hurricane is probably more of a selling point then Matt Hardy... The Hurricane's merchandise sales are what keeps him used by the WWE. If he didnt have merchandise sales so high, WWE would probably drop him to Smackdown where he could lose to Kenzo in a 3 minute squash.. like they do with Charlie Haas.
