Baseball Tonight better not have John Kruk in 2005

Recommended Posts

I doubt Steve would want to do that, I think if he is not calling games he will be involved in some teams office. If ESPN gave him Joe Morgan's spot, I would be very happy.

I am curious to see how Chip does down in Atlanta with his father.

So they're doing a team of Skip and Chip in Atlanta? Both are play-by-play men. That won't be optimal. Also, Chip Caray isn't very good. He was suspiciously over-excited for good plays AGAINST the Cubs. It got annoying. I'd be looking away from the screen and hear "what an EXCELLENT double play!" and be like "oh good" and then realize "shit the Cubs are batting right now"

God this sucks. I want Stone back. Even Jim Belushi would be better than new guys. There we go, Jim Belushi and Bill Murray doing Chicago Cubs games. The problem with the current setup of Comcast Sportsnet is that even though it's not as shitty as Fox, it's still just a local cable sports channel, and it shows. There's no reason to have any sort of exceptionally talented broadcasters for the Cubs any longer, because so few games are nationally televised as per the league not wanting games on TBS and WGN, and the Cubs being greedy and getting more revenue somehow from televising games to a smaller audience. If WGN still aired the full 162-game schedule and dropped the White Sox outright, it would mean a lot more to have two great voices for the Cubs being heard from coast to coast. Now it's just generic guys on a generic station.

I did not think Chip was good in and of himself, but I thought Chip and Steve had a good chemistry together. I really felt they actually liked each other. I enjoyed how they continued, against managements wishes, the WGN tradition of wishing people happy birthdays, or mentioning random people watching the broadcast, something Harry always used to do. Chip was bad with Joe Carter, so I am curious to see how this set up in Atlanta plays. I am really not looking forward to Bob Brenly and whoever doing Cubs games.

Both Morgan and Jon Miller have become such bitter old school commentators that I can barely stand to watch ESPN Sunday Night Baseball anymore. I used to enjoy their commentary, but in recent seasons, they've gone sour and just seem to incessently bitch about the most minute things during the game.

It's kind of funny watching Morgan slowly lose his grip on reality. But his rants on Moneyball get tiring especially when he doesn't even know who wrote the book.

I hate John Kruk!!! (thus I agree with the thread title) Hes whiny and annoying. At least the BDSSP the others would mock him and make fun of his mullet and stuff. and I loved when Tom Arnold made him dress up ast the statue of liberty after the Yanks came back to beat the As in the 01 alds.

Kruk seems to hate NY for some reason. As if I care what he says, who is he? Best remembered for nearly getting beaned by Randy Johnson in the 93 allstar game. and he was in the 93 world series big whoop/

can ESPN hire some better commentators please?

Kruk was an excellent hitter in his heyday. .300 career batting average, along with a .397 career OBP. He was a fun player to watch as well. He retired at 34, and I'm not exactly sure why. It was probably injuries, as he still hit .308 his last year. The fun part about Kruk's career totals is that along with hitting precisely .300, he hit exactly 100 home runs, and played in exactly 1,200 games. That's why its sad to see him turn into such a driviling moron, because he was one of Philly's most beloved players.

I believe he had a severe rotator cuff injury that basically ended his career. He made a recovery, but was never the same player again, and quietly retired not too long after.

I just hope they never use Steve Phillips ever again. His obvious hatred of the Yankees was beyong obvious when they interviewd him right before the playoffs started.

"The Yankees don't scare me. No one in that lineup is dangerous beside Jeter. The Twins will win in four."

Yea Philips was just mad at the yanks cuz they beat his mets in 00

Skip Bayless I think his name is who is on cold pizza every morning is an even bigger yankee hater. Yea hes really important

I just wish the commentators would just try to seem unbiased

and Im talking towards all teams.

just like every nba announcer who bascially verbally made love to the lakers (especially to shaq and kobe) for the past 4 years
