Slickster Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Real Pro Wrestling Basically, this is WWE meets the NCAAs, as all-star amateur wrestlers team up and wrestle one meet per week on PAX. This whole thing was taped as one dual meet in LA in October. Watch the preview video clips to see some highlights from the upcoming shows. What are your thoughts on this new show? Could this make HS/college wrestling a popular spectator sport?
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 For this to get over, they've got to have a number of personalities that the audience at home can connect with and root for. However, for that to happen, they'd have to do the kinds of things I highly doubt they want to do, for fear of being labelled with the 'stigma' of pro wrestling. If all the hyping they do is by the announcers, with the wrestlers just doing standard sports interviews, it won't attract any outside audience, and they'll be limited to the few thousand HS/College wrestling fans who would have watched anyway, and it'll die.
RavishingRickRudo Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 They have XFL-ish team names.
Jingus Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 I wouldn't mind watching this, sounds interesting, but I seriously doubt it can do anything but bomb financially.
