TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2005 Now, i KNOW there are some people who play this, since it seems to crop up now and then in the footy thread in Sports. So share your experiences, joys, despairs, etc in here Unless of course nobody sees it and it's a one post thread. My own guilty pleasure is turning the Sugar Daddy and Cash Injections on, putting Derby on 10000 reputation and buy, buy, buy... EDIT: Rather embarresingly, there's no such game as Footmall manager. Maybe a mod could change it to 'football'?
Murmuring Beast 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2005 I only play Championship Manager 3. My machine can't take anything more. It was better back then anyway...
The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2005 Up to 2012. Forest are struggling this season, I just can't seem to score goals, despite 18 year old German wunderkind Holger Meyer being awesome. Finished 7th last year, which is my highest on this version of the game. Champ Man 3 though - Nottingham Forest, 6 Champions League titles in a row
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted February 13, 2005 I'm still on Champ 03-04. Awesome game. Got a network game on the go with my housemate. It's now 2010. he started as chelsea, won the league in the first season, but won nothing the next year and got sacked. He's been at everton since and has won nothing there but has got them in the champions league 3 years in a row. I was at manchester united for ages and won the champions league twice, but my ultimate failure to win the league got me sacked and i'm now stuck at villa trying to avoid relegation. TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2005 I just noticed something VERY embarressing. I signed Dede at the start of the season for 21m, and forgot all about him. Played Jamie Vincent in his place all season, total value of about 35k.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2005 One thing that annoys me about this version is that virtually every foreign player I sign seems to have to go through a homesick, wanting to leave the club phase about a week after joining.
caboose 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2005 Robbinho is THE player in this game.
Murmuring Beast 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2005 In Championship Manager 3, Tonton Moukoko is the most ridiculously talented player ever. You can't sign him too soon from Djugarden because he's only 14 at the start, but get him when he's 17 and he'll hit at least 30 goals a season. I had him for Partick Thistle. I won five Premier League championships in a row. Sadly I didn't do much in Europe.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2005 Djibril Cisse is fucking annoying. Scores at least twice against me everytime.

deancoles 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2005 How did FM 2005 do when it came to recreating your team? With us they give Lita awful stats, Hill as usual always gets high potential in these CM/Fm games, Amankwaah gets his stats dropped from the CM Series, Phillips is realistic and Anyinsah is great on this for us. Has anyone tried managing in Spain? I'm trying to turn Villarreal into Champions after watching there nice neat football on Sky a few weeks ago, I've bought Cherno Samba as a bit of laugh from Cadiz(buy De La Cuesta if you can afford him) to see if he was as crap as his stats and he is decent and is doing well in the reserves Can anyone think of any Players that have been stars on CM before they became well known? Cech,Frey,Kaka,Etherington and Simon Davies(on Cm 3 I always got those 2 from Peterborough for my wingers)Coloccini,Ronaldinho,Kallstrom,Adriano,Mutu,Isaksson,Chivu,D'Alessandro,Robben,Saviola and Riquelme are some of the players that I've bought on CM before discovering that they were actually good in real life. Edit: Did any of you ever sign Kevin Amankwaah? he's far better on CM(especially 00/01) than in Real life, he's got into the England right back spot easily. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2005 Yeah, I'm about 6 seasons in. Started as Wales as something 'easy' and ended up getting to the World Cup Quarter Finals. Then Hartson, Giggs and Speed retired and Bellamy got injured pretty much consistantly. Took over Palace 2 seasons in too, saved them from relegation from December and then built them up to an FA Cup win and Charity Sheild win the next season. Top finish 6th. I've got Kevin Koffi, Sinama-Pongolle, Mosquera and Mantorras as my strikeforce who are all pretty decent. Gerard and Joaquin are both playing awesome and I've got a lot of squad depth. I've bought Cherno Samba as a bit of laugh from Cadiz to see if he was as crap as his stats and he is decent and is doing well in the reserves In 03/04 he became an England regular for me (as Villa) and I swear he must have scored 50+ in one season, all competitions...30+ in the Premier. Not as good on FM though, obviously.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2005 Tonton Moukoko is the most ridiculously talented player ever. Of course he is, that's why he was released by Derby a few years ago. It was surprising though, on any CM bar last year, just sign him, put him in attack and he went up to like 70m* Always sold him in the end though, especially if I was in Div 1. *Maybe an exaggeration. deancoles 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 The Swedish players were always given good stats in the CM games, it helps a lot if your midtable in the Premiership because you can sign someone like Kennedy Bakircioglu for 250k and at the end of the season he's worth about 6-8 million.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 My brother has become dangerously obsessed with Bakircioglu. He has his picture and everything.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 ^^ha. I need a new challenge, I've just won the Premiership with THIS team: Shay Given Ashley Cole John Terry Glen Johnson William Gallas Jose Reyes Robert Pires Frank Lampard Arjen Robben Ronaldinho Adriano - Like I say, money talks. And please, dont suggest picking a Swedish Division 5 team with no money
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 Try winning the Prem with a team of players all called Steve. Or something.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 Umm.. Alright, I will do. Steve Stone is going to be my playmaker, it seems.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 Can I nickname Adriano 'Steve'?
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 No. But you can rename El Hadj Diouf to Steve.

TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 He seems to have a new lease of life since leaving Pool, actually. Still shite, though.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2005 My major gripe with the game is it's way too pro-England. Club and country. The European Cup's been won by English clubs every season but one on my game, with two all English finals. UEFA Cup is almost as bad. Oh and England as a national team are pretty much unbeatable. World Cup and Euro Championship winners.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 I used to like the CM games when you'd get clubs like Marseille,Brondby,Panathinaikos and Dinamo Kiev in the Champions League Semis.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 I used to like the CM games when you'd get clubs like Marseille,Brondby,Panathinaikos and Dinamo Kiev in the Champions League Semis. Ever taken a club yourself there with a 'no name' club? I took Derby to the Champs League final (but lost) after about 4 seasons, without cheating, in the last game, but have got nowhere near doing that this time around.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 I took Shakhtar Donetsk to the Final in Cm 01/02, with Aghahowa and some good Ukranians there all I needed was to sign Robben(who's arranged transfer to PSV fell through because of injury)Kallstrom,Bakircioglu,Amankwaah,Cech and Farnerud for the combined total of 5.8 million. Edit: I lost 4 times to Dinamo Kiev that season, twice in the league(which I won), once in the cup and in the 1st leg of the Champions League Semi. The best achievment was when I got Rushden to the Prem in 01/02 in a 2 player game on a mates X-Box(easiest version by far) with Darren Huckerby, Scott Murray, Juris Laizans(brilliant DMC),Karl Corneliusson, Alexander Farnerud, Michael Barron and Stuart Taylor my only signings that I paid a fee for, I also got this Brazilian hothead Striker on a free who turned out to be Romario's regen. Vanhalen 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 To me nothing will ever beat the very first version of Championship Manager I owned Champ Man 2 Season 97/98 for my P90 8mb 500mg hard drive lol, what a fucking game, and buying Mario Jardel from Brazil after having so much shit getting a work permit and seeing him knock in 40 goals

Anorak 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 To me nothing will ever beat the very first version of Championship Manager I owned Champ Man 2 Season 97/98 for my P90 8mb 500mg hard drive lol, what a fucking game, and buying Mario Jardel from Brazil after having so much shit getting a work permit and seeing him knock in 40 goals 97/98 was my favourite game ever. Probably a bit easier than the later games but still the most enjoyable. My best ever game featured Arsenal, Metz and Bournemouth. Got Bournemouth to 3rd place in the premier by buying French and Scandinavian players (not Svindal Larsen, Knutsen or Ljung though, they were CL quality) and won domestic and champions leagues with the other two. I loved playing it for a few seasons and buying these made up players who had god-like stats. The French schoolboys on frees at the start of the season a few years in were particularly amazing, ready made internationals a lot of them and my Metz side made up half the national squad. After about 18 years i'd discovered a Ukranian striker better than Shevchenko and the only two players to ever come out of Chad, both identically world class AMC's. The game refused to load after i'd done 29 seasons. Shame they didn't have the game time stats option back then to see how much of my life i'd wasted. Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 29 seasons is pretty impressive. Can anyone beat that? I think my best is about 15.
