This board's rules are often just a bad justification for banning someone a mod (or the rest of the board, but not in this case) doesn't like anyways. If they enforced the rules, everyone would be banned, or something like that.

 

Honestly, you should change the "BOARD RULES" post to "STRONG SUGGESTIONS"

The key rules are that mods have full discretion to ban whoever they feel is acting like a twit and also for people to conduct themselves like human being who possess some sort of maturity. That gives them license to do what they feel is necessary, which is a good thing, since too many posters were acting like first-year law students looking for loopholes before. This board isn't a democracy nor is it fair, and really, no one should expect it to be. There's no obligation to treat two scenarios that have the exact same circumstances surrounding them the exact same way. The board is privately owned.

If we keep arguing the semantics of what to call the Board Rules/Guidlines/Suggestions, it'll be sooner than that. People wanted something written down so they knew what flew and what didn't, and that's what it is. Besides, we (the Mod and Admin staff) have worked out how bannings will go down from now on, so hopefully you won't see anymore drama inducing decisions.

But it's really what flies some of the time and not when a mod or two is PMSing, so they're not really codified laws. They're merely strong suggestions to avoid banning when a mod feels uppity.

I pretty much figured that we were too strict on our banning policy, so basically, unless you're being a complete retard (which is entirely possible, given the nature of this board), you won't get banned.

 

I'm honestly with Tom on the flaming thing, because by now, most of us are getting to be pretty old, so yeah.

You know, just because Failed Mascot is the one who started the thread, doesn't mean the points he raised were wrong.

 

I'm not saying Mike should be banned, but he does tend to turn threads into drawn out slapfights that veer way off topic even by CE standards. I'd hesitate to say that anyone else who would do something like that (especially in CE) would get the hammer brought down on him.

 

It's not even a matter of disagreeing on politics with him either, its just his "I'm right because I say so, I don't have to justify it so just deal with it" mentality that makes trying to have a debate in CE an exercise in patience these days.
