Heh, Tim Sylvia is nowhere to be found.

I was thinking of making a thread about the top ten Heavyweights, mine would have been shocking to say the least, since this was before the Arlovski fight, and neither Mir OR Sylvia were on it. That, and Barnett was number two.

Well, Sylvia is categorized as a "super-heavyweight" (+265) on their website.

I don't know how you can have Barnett at #2, considering he's had no big wins in almost three years. 5 or 6 is good enough for him. It's tough to rate guys like Mir and Sylvia, because while their records are solid, they really haven't gotten that big win over a proven HW to put them over the top, with the possible exception of Ricco/Sylvia, which is getting closer and closer to fluke territory.

Top Ten Heavyweights:

1) Fyodor. Proved why he is the man and did it all in style. No one comes close in my opinion, although it's funny that he's really only beaten one serious fighter...even if that serious fighter was the best in the world, and he's done it twice, with two different gameplans.

2) Nogueira. He WAS the man before Fyodor. If you were a top contender in PRIDE's HW division, at any point after PRIDE 15, he beat you. Unless your name is Fyodor. If people would have ever thought he had a chance to beat Fyodor, it would have been at NYE. In between the two fights, he beat Ricco, Cro Cop, Yokoi, Herring AND Kharitanov. Talk about bouncing back, yet afterwards, we all saw what happened.

3) Arlovski. Too bad we won't be able to see how he'd do against the only two guys ahead of him, I think he'd fare well, and I'd actually bet on him against Nogueira.

4) Cro Cop. Hasn't faced any real competition other than Nogueira, but he lost that fight. He has seemingly improved a lot in his ground game and takedown defence since then, and has been disposing of some decent fighters in typical Cro Cop fashion.

5) Barnett. Lots of potential in this guy, he just needs to avoid freak accidents and fight more. Potentially the best, in actuality the bottom of the heap, I place him at the middle since I believe in this guy, and he will be the breakout fighter of this year, at least the second half of this year.

6) Kharitanov. Again, hasn't beaten a serious contender yet, but has looked impressive regardless against guys like Schilt, Ninja, and Choi. I would have liked to have seen him fight a Cro Cop or Herring, but neither of those is happening anytime soon. Bank on him taking on a fresh Barnett later on this year.

7) Mir. Has impressive wins, over top guys, well one, in Sylvia. I don't really like Sylvia, and think he's not very good, but the fact is he was a heavyweight champ who beat Cabbage, Ricco and McGee, all fairly convincingly. So that deserves merit.

8) Rizzo. Great takedown defence with solid submissions and the sickest KO power in the division, excepting MAYBE Cro Cop. Okay probably. Still, if his head was in the right place, he'd be a lot higher and a lot more dominant.

9) Sylvia. Well I guess he has to be somewhere on here.

10) Ricco. Once great, fallen far. Abu Dhabi ground skills and solid wrestling is not too bad. He's been out for awhile, and might even retire, which I find kinda lame since I thought he could be a great fighter if he really tried hard to come back.

Next few, no real order here, but approximate order is where I placed them. Easily interchangable.

Buenetello. (Don't fear me, fear the consequences!)

Herring.

McGee.

Okay, that's all that comes to mind. I'm up for people disagreeing with any of it, except for the top spot of course. If there are guys you think should be on here, odds are they aren't because they're cutting weight, like Matyushenko.
