Games That Were Cancelled...why?

Recommended Posts

For people wondering about Mother 3 (a.k.a. sequel to Earthbound), Nintendo's been putting it off on the back burner yet again.

Reason being is that they don't think it'll sell. Well, they gave some mumbo jumbo on the reason why they cancelled it again, but that's more or less the bottom line of the "nicity" of what they said.

However, there's rumors going around that Mother 3 is one of the pet projects of the new gaming console Nintendo is bringing out. Although, I doubt it.

Aside from the Game Boy Player, there's also knockoffs out there that does the same thing; on the downside, you need a GC for that too and it only plays GBA games, not GB/GBC.

Since Jingus probably doesn't have a GC, guess he's not interested.

You must have a talent for breaking things--I dropped my GBA plenty of times and it was just fine. Then again, I had a protection plan, which virtually guarantees you wouldn't actually need it.

I think Anya said an arcade Primal Rage 2 came out.

Shenmue II also came to the DC in Europe. So, plenty of places sold a PAL copy of the game with a converter disc. However, it was multiple discs and was a pain in the BUTT to boot up.

Virtually every CV game has some sort of Belmont. Remember of course that female Belmonts and their children may not carry on the name, even though they still have the blood.

Exceptions are Alucard, Nathan Graves, Soma, some secondary characters, and so forth. Basically, a hunter usually has no chance of beating Dracula (storyline-wise) unless he/she either possesses a) the Vampire Killer b) Belmont blood.

Alucard basically nailed the "first" Belmont, Sonia Belmont, and so the Belmont clan actually has some of Dracula's blood, which explains why the Belmonts are so powerful. Plus, isn't that some of legend about certain types of immortals--only family can kill them? Alucard didn't have the VK, but he had Drac's blood.

For more detailed info in chronological order (not in the order the games came out) there's info here:

Naturally, lots of this stuff was added later on by different teams, so some things conflict.

Actually, take a picture, cuz I'm one of the 17 people on the planet Earth who thought that Castlevania 2 for the NES was a good game and a worthy sequel. I love that friggin game. I'll still play it, once a year or so. I love having an NES that still works.

People have been claiming for years that Metal Gear Solid was gonna have some sequels that would not suck. Did they cancel all those games too?

I remember, way back in the 100th Issue of Nintendo Power, they had an article about the best and worst issues/issue covers for the mag. The issue, which was #2, I believe, that had Castlevania II as the cover art, had a picture of Simon(?) Belmost holding the severed head of Dracula.

Nintendo reps got calls for weeks from angry parents about their kids having nightmares about it. :headbang:

I think Anya said an arcade Primal Rage 2 came out.

The game was nearly finished and a working pcb does exist. It was up for sale on ebay a few years ago.

Eternal Champions: The Final Chapter is another canceled game that would have been cool.

Based on the ending of Freespace 2, there should be a Freespace 3, but then Volition got bought by THQ and that ended that(remember, if you will, that the first game was called Descent Freespace so Interplay still had rights to the name and all so they were screwed)
