Boon 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 NEW YORK (AP) -- The father of teen movie star Lindsay Lohan was arrested Saturday following a fiery car crash and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said. A car driven by Michael Lohan, 44, left a road and struck a utility pole shortly after midnight in the Long Island town of Syosset, said Nassau County Police Sgt. Patricia Scalzo. Lohan, of Laurel Hollow, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He got out before it burst into flames and was not injured. Police charged Lohan with driving while intoxicated and driving without a license. Lohan did not comment as he was taken from police headquarters to a court appearance. It was the latest in a series of scrapes with the law for Lohan, whose 18-year-old daughter starred in films including "Parent Trap," "Mean Girls," "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and "Freaky Friday." In December, he pleaded guilty to several charges, including assaulting a brother-in-law at his son's communion party, and was ordered into drug and alcohol treatment and therapy. He also was arrested last June for allegedly skipping out on a $3,800 bill for several suites at a hotel. After his estranged wife filed for divorce, he held a news conference earlier this month to proclaim his problems with substance abuse were over. DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 (02/19/05) SYOSSET - Merrick actress Lindsay Lohan’s father was arrested and charged with drunk driving early Saturday after crashing the car he was driving into a pole in Syosset. Police say Michael Lohan was alone and drunk when he crashed. According to police, Lohan exhibited signs of impairment and intoxication at the scene. Neighbors say Lohan tried to flee the scene after the crash, but a local was able to stop him. LIPA says the accident caused more than 1,700 homes to lose power. Authorities say Lohan just completed a court-ordered drug and alcohol rehab program. He was also charged with driving without a license, which was suspended last November after he was arrested for another DWI. Lohan was released on $40,000 bond. Heh, one of the free papers on Long Island (the Press) has a running feature about how many days Michael Lohan has been trouble-free. Guess it's going back to zero.
