eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2005 hey, it seems the Misfits are coming to play here in May and i'll definitely going but i was wondering, do they play any songs from the Danzig era? or do they play mostly the newer stuff?
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2005 When I saw them back in 2001, they played a fair bit of Danzig stuff, though the majority was the newer stuff.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2005 They only played a handful of "newer" stuff, and the only song from after '83 that I can remember off the top of my head is "Dig Up Her Bones." I think they also segue into "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" before doing a small portion of the newer stuff. The first time I saw them, they played 20 minutes of the old stuff, then 20 minutes of the new stuff, and then 20 minutes of covers. Both times after that, they've played about 40 minutes of mixed old and new (mostly old), 10 minutes of Ramones covers, and 10 minutes of Black Flag covers. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 Fucking awesome live. Jerry does the singing, and his voice sucks, but there's so much damn energy that when Jerry, Marky, and Dez take the stage, you can't HELP but love every minute of it. The first time I saw them, their sound system was fucked up for the first 1/3 of the set, so after they did it all, they repeated the first 1/3 all over again. Plus, Jerry will come back out a few minutes after the set is done and will sign autographs for EVERYBODY that wants one.

Guest Reservoir_Kitty Report post Posted February 23, 2005 The Misfits live was a very kickass show, and honestly, one of my favorite concerts I've been to. There's a lot of energy, and the songs are 10 times better live. It's also totally refreshing to see a band that gives a shit about their fans and come out and sign autographs, even though I was almost crushed to death when Jerry came back out to sign stuff when we saw them. It was cool though, security fished me out, and I got to stand next to Jerry until my friends got their tickets signed. I felt cool... for like five minutes. It was still awesome. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 I know that this thread is supposed to be a Jerry/Dez-era Misfits thread, but since we segued to the Danzig/Doyle shows, too, I figured it wasn't too bad to post here. I went to the Danzig show at the Roxy last night. The 30 minutes with Doyle was AWESOME but the Danzig-solo sets that bookended the "Misfits" set was fucking horrible. Glenn's voice sounded so shot it wasn't even funny, and he kept adjustin his own mic at the soundboard and it'd immediately get too hot. Even the rest of the band sounded more muffled, even compared to the opening acts ... and I've NEVER heard the headliner sound that much worse than the openers. Even with how bad the Danzig stuff was, the show was sweet, and wicked worth heading into the city during the snowstorm. Doyle rocked, the fans went ballistic for every song, they played a really cool setlist of songs. All in all, a really cool show.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 I thought it would've been funny if the guy from North Side Kings would go to every Danzig/Doyle show, gets up front, and waves at Glenn.
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 anybody knows if Doyle is playing again with Jerry or it's still just Jerry with Dez and the other guys?
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 I thought it would've been funny if the guy from North Side Kings would go to every Danzig/Doyle show, gets up front, and waves at Glenn. I don't know if it was related to the NSK punking him out or not, but a ton of people were calling Glenn gay during his set. The funny part about it was when Doyle came out to do the Misfits set, Glenn said something along the likes of "I'm not so gay now, huh?"
