Dogbert Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 At the end of Styx's "Mr. Roboto", why is the singer's identification of himself as "Kilroy" so shocking? The closest thing I can imagine to it is that "Kilroy" is somehow a reference to the American military. The saying "Kilroy was here" was written by graffiti artists in places where the Army travelled during World War II: however, I fail to see how the song and the military would be linked. Anyone that can help?
GeneMean Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Killroy Was Here was Styx's weird attempt at rock opera. The lead singer played Kilroy, a rockstar that was jailed because rock n roll was outlawed or something like that. He beat up a "Mr. Roboto" guard and got inside the suit to escape. The "I'm Kilroy" part is where he takes off the Roboto helmet to reveal himself to Tommy Shaw.
The Amazing Rando Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 ...and then Tommy Shaw screams, but not cause of the reveal, but because he realizes two years prior they were playing in packed stadiums, and were now in small theaters. ...but then "Don't Let It End" plays and everyone is happy again.
converge241 Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 LMFAO they needed that "intimate" setting to tell their wonderful story
