Romber didn't win, but it's always about a billion times better when a team you like wins over a team you hate (Freddy and Kendra, Zach and ShutUpFlo). Though, I really had no problem with Ron and Kelly. They were both pretty funny. The Amazing Race people generally do a good job. Maybe the "family" one will work out. Okay, you're the underdog, minority, good guys with hearts of gold, I get it. You helped the old couple when you weren't supposed to, you felt bad for the orphans, and all that shit. It's just gone to the point of annoyance. If this show proves anything, it's that Bruckheimer is able to work in his sappy characters even under the guise of "reality". This show makes me dislike black people, and I'm ASIAN. Any team who makes it this far deserves the win, but if you're talking about deserving, no one deserves that money more than Rob, who never forgot that this was a contest and ignored all that moral principle-bullshit that "reality" TV producers love so much. Remember what happened to Colin & Christie and the Bowling Moms a couple of races ago? Phil was on the Early Show when they gave away the money last time. starvenger 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2005 True, but in this case, had Mr. Cab Driver said "don't worry, no problem", they'd be absolved of that responsibility. The unnecessary drama came from the way they edited where exactly Rob and Amber were in relation to the Finish Line. The deal, which had been expected, includes rights to the first eight editions of the series -- or 110 episodes -- and the option for the next two installments. GSN plans to air all installments consecutively seven days a week starting at 9 p.m. July 11, with encore showings at midnight every night except Fridays, which is GSN's themed "Casino Night," as well as special marathons throughout the year. GSN president and CEO Rich Cronin said during a conference call with reporters that "Race" will serve as a lead-in for the cable network's original programing. Because of the show's growing ratings on CBS, "a lot of people are recent fans and are going to be very curious about the early seasons of the show, while other longtime fans will come back and want to see it again," he said. "We think the show, which has people traveling around the world in spectacular, exotic locations with lots of action, has great potential in repeats." GSN is said to have paid a per-episode fee in the low- to mid-$50,000 range, but the network and syndicator King World declined comment on the price. The show's format makes it easy for viewers to start watching at any time during the competition, said Ian Valentine, GSN's senior vp programing. "Every episode has a winner at the end and -- unfortunately -- a loser, and we think that falls right into the GSN brand," he said. "I believe that the episodes are more stand-alone relative to other reality shows, and hence viewers can drop in and enjoy" the show at any time. Bertram van Munster, the show's co-creator and one of the executive producers, agreed. "I think this is proof that there is an afterlife for reality TV," he said in an interview from an undisclosed location where he's scouting for "Race." "The shows are so originally cast, and the drama is just extraordinary. It's quite obvious they can be shown again and again." The season finale of "Race's" seventh installment aired last month. The series has won two Emmys for outstanding reality-competition program. GSN also has acquired such reality programing as "Dog Eat Dog," "Average Joe" and "The Mole."
