The years that he started 35 or so games he had records of 18-19, 13-21, 21-11, and 19-15. Those aren't exactly spectacular although one could argue the fact that he was 38+ in age had to do with that. Again though, a guy who starts 45+ a season has a good chance at winning 25-30 games a season. Could you imagine how great Pedro Martinez would be W-L wise if he started every 4th game?

Yes, but could he hold up in today's game? That's the big question. I think Young is actually underrated, as his prime occured during one of the biggest eras for run production, from 1893-7. Fantastic control pitcher who led the league in BB/9 14 times.
