Simpsons Deaths

Recommended Posts

Guest jm29195

After just seeing the Bleeding Gums Murphy episode of Simpsons on my new dvd, I was feeling particulaly morbid and wondering if anyone can give me a list of how many characters in the Simpsons have died since they started and what were the causes of death?

Let me see here...

Snowball I, II, III, and IV (the later three all in the same episode) were all killed, but in a particuarly hilarious gag, Lisa decided to name the fifth one Snowball II in order to avoid confusion. Skinner then came by complaining about how insulting it was to do that, to which Lisa replied, "Okay Mr. Tanzarian." Then he just scooted away.

Marge's various family members have died.

Poochie died leaving Earth.

Smithers' father died thanks to the nuclear core.

Dr. Monroe died without any explanation, but then reappeared last season when Marge wrote that romance novel.

And let us not forget Grimey.

Marge's Aunt died of old age.

Maude Flanders died after falling off the top of some bleachers from being hit by a t-shirt shot from a gun.

Dr. Marvin Monroe's death was never explained.

Sideshow Bob was suppose to have gotten the chair and it was acknowledged at the end of that episode. Still, they probably brought him back since then.

Frank Grimes died when electrocuted after gripping power lines in the plant.

Both Troy McLure and Lionell Hutz are presumed dead but not explained why to honor Phil Hartman

As was said earlier, Abe's girlfriend Bev died of a heart-attack.

The humor in the series has been dead since around the middle of season 10.

Blah, blah, blah. There aren't as MANY funny jokes per show, but it's still fucking hilarious at least once per episode.

Milhouse talking about his dad being at work, only to cut to his father working as an actual scarecrow, was gold.

If Simpsons can't seem hilarious after the horribly unfunny "Malcolm in the Middle" then it has no chance in hell.

I think I chuckled once, and that was at the bullies. The Simpsons are in major need of another series character death. I selected Marge "Outlived my usefulness two seasons ago" Simpson.

Very true, though of course not on Marge. Flanders served as excellent fodder for the past couple seasons, but that gag has run its course.

As much as I like Malcolm in the Middle, it was pretty bad. The scene where they taught Craig to play dirty was cute, but it ended there.

I thought Monroe died, and then something was dedicated to him in memory.

If I remember correctly, the writers hated Dr. Monroe, so they just stopped using him. On the "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" episode, the name of the hospital was the "Marvin Monroe Memorial Hospital," thus of course leading everyone to believe he was dead.

But once The Simpsons started just screwing around with their conventions, they brought him in.

Monroe showed up last season at Marge's book signing when she became an author. She said she thought he was dead and he said, 'No, I was just really sick'.

Bart should've died in 1996 when the Yankees won the Pennant/World Series/Whatever explanation was given when he went to hell in Season 2.

They more or less said it themselves in the 138th Episode Spectacular. There was a trivia question asking "Which two popular Simpsons characters have died in the past year?" or something like that, and the answer was "If you guessed Marvin Monroe and Bleeding Gums Murphy, you're wrong. They were never popular."
