In my last band, when the guitarist went to rehab and I decided I didn't want to sing with them once they all went straight edge, they still wanted me to stay in the background and write for them. That being said, it's like that famous quote by some guy I cannot remember, who said he loved reading his bad reviews because "I know damn well how good I am.
