EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2005 The Tampa Bay Devil Rays lost 91 games last year. Whereas most organizations would see the season as a colossal failure, it was the most successful season in Devil Rays history. The Devil Rays feature a ton of young talent, but it is questionable whether the organization possesses the know-how to build a solid team around them. The hitting talent is there. The question is whether the young pitchers can step up. Scott Kazmir (21), Doug Waechter (24), and Dewon Brazleton (25) frm a young nucleus of pitching. However, neither Waechter or Brazleton have anything resembling good peripherals. The team also lacks a dominant arm in the bullpen. If Hideo Nomo somehow regains his ability, and if the young pitchers can step forward, this team MIGHT finish better than last place.

Styles 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2005 I have the DRays finishing ahead of the Blue Jays for 4th place. Their questionable young pitching makes the O's staff look like the mid-90s Braves in dependability, though. Their lineup is real iffy too with some good young hitters but beyond that it's like a hodgepodge of journeymen veterans... PROJECTED LINEUP 1. Carl Crawford CF 2. Roberto Alomar 2B 3. Aubrey Huff LF 4. Josh Phelps DH 5. Julio Lugo SS 6. Travis Lee 1B 7. Danny Bautista RF 8. Alex Gonzalez 3B 9. Toby Hall C Rotation 1. M. Hendrickson 2. D. Brazelton 3. S. Kazmir 4. D. Waechter 5. R. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 11, 2005 The Devil Rays rotation is one of the bigger question mark rotations this year. Lots of youth and inexperience (3 players mentioned already), which makes it hard to grade. I'm sure though, that they could've done better than Roberto Alomar at second base. I see them doing the same as last year, battling for fourth place with the Blue Jays.
