Steviekick 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Second Stage is worth the price of admission by itself. Swedish greatness with In Flames, the Haunted, Soilwork, and Arch Enemy. I'm definitely going.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 what makes you think there's another main stage band? http://www.ozzfest.com/bands.html That "???" under "Main Stage." You mentioned Killswitch Engage on the main, but it's Second Stage.

Styles 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Let's put it this way, if Anthrax is indeed announced along with Sabbath and Maiden I might not go...because I'll still be in a euphoria induced coma from thinking about the greatest concert lineup I could possibly imagine. Just add on Zombie who's a guilty pleasure of mine, Shadow's Fall who are getting a good deal of hype and my friend who will be going with me loves BLS, so this would be worth whatever amount Sharon Osbourne wishes to gorge from me! Styles 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Saw this on the Iron Maiden board. Had me cracking up, especially the end part. "Burning Bush". LOS ANGELES, March 15, 2005 - In an unprecedented and highly low-key move, Ozzfest organizers today announced that Blaze Bayley, former singer of metal giants and 2005 Ozzfest co-headliners Iron Maiden, will headline the a brand new addition to Ozzfest, the 3rd stage/parking lot facilities. Bayley will be the only act on the 3rd stage, an Ozzfest representative reports. When asked for a reason to add a new stage this year, head tour organizer and head honcho Sharon Osbourne commented "We felt the time was right to add a Parking Lot Stage to our little circus this year. It made perfect sense and Blaze was happy to oblige. We were told by his management/mother that Blaze was struggling to launch a successful U.S. tour schedule, and we thought, what a great way to help a starving artist out. In no way does this conflict or involve a collaboration with his former bandmates in Maiden." Some members of the Maiden camp were not so thrilled. Upon hearing of the news, Maiden guitarist Dave Murray added "That prick bastard better not approach our dressing room. We're glad he's got the 6 A.M. slot." Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris noted "Yeah, we heard the news. I'll kick him in the BALZE if he steps near me." Blaze Bayley was offered a grand package and excellent compensation for the tour. We can reveal the details of the compensation exclusively. They include: --2 seats in the first 10 rows for any 2 Ozzfest shows of Mr. Bayley's choice (not including backstage or any other VIP privileges) --A photo laminate for all shows --$15 daily meal expenses --A signed Ozzfest tour program Mr. Bayley could not be reached for comment. The tour kicks off July 15th in Boston and runs through Labor Day finishing up in Florida. UPDATE: Thanks to 'zgodt' for breaking this story: From the Associated Press: It has just been announced that the Parking Lot Facilities Stage will be expanded to include a second act, namely former Armored Saint and Anthrax frontman John Bush. Bush and Blaze have banded together in an unprecedented partnership, the Jilted Replacements Bitterness Tour. "We considered calling it the 'Burning Bush' tour," says Bush, "in light of what would happen if you add Blaze and Bush together. We liked the religious overtones of that, and the ultimate threat of divine vengeance it promised. But ultimately we decided that it might also sound like an unpleasant form of VD, so we renamed it the Jilted Replacements Bitterness Tour." Fans across North America agreed that any bitterness Bush or Blaze may be feeling toward their former bandmates is largely justified, and planned to support the "3rd stage" to their rocking utmost. "Hell yeah," said 19-year-old Christian Wetherford, of Boston, Ma. "If that guy that sang "Only" and that other dude with the funny name are throwing down in the parking lot while I'm getting my drunk on before the gates open at 11am, then I'll probably turn my radio down and check 'em out." AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 *Third* Stage? I guess they're still going to tease us a while about the last mainer. *snerk* Too bad. When I first read it I was thinking we might get a few numbers with Blayze and Maiden, but even though I like some of BB's stuff, I'd rather see D'ianno. Some members of the Maiden camp were not so thrilled. Upon hearing of the news, Maiden guitarist Dave Murray added "That prick bastard better not approach our dressing room. We're glad he's got the 6 A.M. slot." Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris noted "Yeah, we heard the news. I'll kick him in the BALZE if he steps near me." Most rock stars = overgrown children. Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 18, 2005 It'd be interesting if they did a "surprise" for each seperate show for the main stage like a rotating door.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 I might go this year...its good to see they didnt add any lame radio bands to the mainstage this year. I really expected crossfade, godsmack, seether, 3 days down, or some other atrocity to be included. The chance to see Sabbath and Maiden is worth my 50$...but my summer plans are stacked thick right now, and goin to this will depend on prices and other plans. Lineups not as dissapointing as I assumed it would be though.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 19, 2005 Last year's show didnt have any mainstream bands either, maybe Slipknot but i dont lump them with that group of bands you mentioned. At least they are somewhat metal and put on a great show and hardly conform to that radio sound. This year's line up looks better everytime i scan it. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 I think Judas Priest would out-cheese even the 3 Doors Downest of bands. I guess I was alluding more to the Linkin Parks and CrazyTowns of old. The shitty lineups of the past have staind the Ozzfest. If I can get a lawn ticket for 20$ or so....Ill go.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 19, 2005 JudasPreist might have cheesy elements but they are legendary metal icons. 3 Doors Down is smeared pop crap.

Styles 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 Comments from "The Air Raid Siren" himself.... Comments singer Bruce Dickinson, "We've always had great support there before but this is stepping up another level entirely. This whole tour will be one of the biggest we have ever done in terms in the number of fans we are playing to and if the reaction continues like this, every show will be a truly momentous occasion. "Following the great reception received by our DVD 'The Early Days', which chronicled the MAIDEN story over the first four albums, we decided to give the fans a special treat on this tour by playing materiel almost exclusively from these albums, including a lot of songs that fans have been asking us to play for years along with fan favourites like 'Number of the Beast', 'Run to the Hills', 'Hallowed be thy Name', 'Wrathchild' and 'The Trooper'. And it will be a lot of fun for us playing stuff we haven't played for years!! "In keeping with this, we will be bringing over for Ozzfest the full European show, naturally including as special guest Eddie in various appropriate guises!! The stage sets, production and backdrops will recreate aspects of the shows on the tours around those albums — 'Iron Maiden', 'Killers', 'Number of the Beast' and 'Piece of Mind'. Only bigger, much bigger!!! We don't know if anyone has done anything like this before but we think it's something the fans will really appreciate both in the choice of songs and in the production values. "Unfortunately, we are unable to complete the full Ozzfest schedule as we were already confirmed to headline some major British festivals in that period, so apologies to fans in Texas and the Southeast. Having said that we are very much looking forward to the dates we are doing, especially with such a great bill. We're sure it will be a fantastic day out for the fans." Styles 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2005 At risk of turning this thread into my own "Iron Maiden Ozzfest news thread..." MaidenFans.com is reporting that IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson revealed on his BBC 6 Music radio show Saturday night (March 19) that MAIDEN will be playing a one-hour set during this year's Ozzfest. Although this is not very surprising considering the number of bands slated to appear on the Ozzfest main stage (including festival closers BLACK SABBATH), it still comes as a disappointment to many U.S. fans. That kind of sucks. I was ok with the limiting to songs from the first 4 albums because they have the theme planned and that's their most classic material, but how can they even fit in all of those hits in just an hour? And they're a headliner? I would have figured around 2 hours each for Maiden and Sabbath. Does this mean like 30 minutes for Anthrax, Shadow's Fall and BLS? Still excited to see them because some Maiden live is better then none, but anyone familiar know if such short sets are the norm at Ozzfest?

Styles 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Well, the mystery band on the main stage is officially...Mudvayne. Wow, after expecting Anthrax that's sure a kick in the balls. I had to indure Mudvayne a couple years ago as an opener for Metallica at Summer Santiarium 2003 Tour, and they were so awful. Crowd booed them non stop. Oh well, it's still Maiden and Sabbath but the lineup just went down a notch to say the least...
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 At least they've dumped the make-up. The one time I saw them (for all of ten minutes before leaving as they were headlining) was when I wasn't familiar with their music outside their two hits. I'd kind of like to see them now that I know their stuff.
