Corey Webster, CB, LSU The Saints are in dire need of a good cornerback to shut down the opponent's passing game. Webster is a good choice because he has great hands, excellent instincts for his position, can protect on the run, and is larger than the average CB. Considering that the Saints defense needs all the help it can get, a draft pick with Webster's instincts lurking in the backfield (he nearly set the LSU career record for INTs) could be the difference between another .500 season and the playoffs. Cadillac Williams, RB, Auburn Strengths: Excellent pure athletic ability and talent...Amazing vision...Can change direction and cut on a dime...Plays much faster than his timed speed and is extremely quick...Very hard to tackle and a tough runner...Outstanding balance...Has the "It" factor and intuition that all the great ones possess...Has the potential to be a franchise running back in the NFL. James, Cody/Hawthorne, Udeze, and Kevin Williams for a defensive line? Very young and raw, but that's still a lot of talent. And why am I not shocked you wanted Davis for N.O. How many years now have you been begging for any secondary help, since at least Trufant isn't it? I just feel it was a bit of a reach for Webster. And, I've been wanting secondary help ever since we traded up and drafted (up to this point and I don't see it changing) a bust in Jonathan Sullivan.. fuckin' fatty. I like Thomas Davis because if we can't use him in the secondary, he could easily play an OLB for us which we need as well. Besides, Smith is a joint away from a year long suspension, and Moore and Williams aren't really starting running backs. Depending on what goes down, via trade. Minnesota's running game sort of reminded me of the 'Denver system' or even 'KC's system' everyone always talks about. Is it as good as their system? No, but I think they can plug any of their running backs on the chart and get decent-to-good production from them. And, if Michael Bennett could stay healthy he could be a star-type running back. James and Udeze should be fine at End, their linebacking corps is decent, their secondary is frightening. TE is set with Wiggins and Kleinsasser, they're fine at QB. Maybe an OT or Guard could have been taken with the pick. Or a WR. Clayton is small. What, 5'10? He runs a good 40, but I see him being a Santana Moss type receiver. I totally understand that -- just like STL picking Steven Jackson last year, but I'm just saying Minnesota's depth is so deep at running back and they have other holes to still address. I don't agree with their linebacking corps being "decent"... they underachieve greatly, but there is no LB I would have taken at #17 since DJ is gone. I'm not up on all the FA signings, but I know that Chavous isn't getting younger and Russell is HORRID in coverage.. or horrible as a safety in general... Thomas Davis would have been pro. Or Mark Clayton since they do have a glaring hole at the WR position now -- that's all I'm saying. EDIT: Clayton is small. What, 5'10? Steve Smith (CAR) is only 5'9" and if I remember correctly two seasons ago he was beginning to tear up the league as a WR before his injury this past season. Clayton is sure-handed (doesn't drop much of anything thrown to him) and has some of the best moves I have seen after the catch for a WR in awhile.
