So, I want to buy a Big Gold replica

Recommended Posts

Guest bigm350

I want to get another version of the Big Gold belt for myself but I can't decide which one to go for? Either the old-school classic NWA-WCW version, or the newer, WWE version with the WWE logo.

I had both types of belts awhile ago but sold both because I needed the money. Now that I have the extra cash. I'd like to buy one again, as I only have enough money for one.

This is the only style belt that I want, as its always been my favorite, but I need your guy's advice on which one to get.

Old school? Or the current WWE-logoed Big Gold?

Old School with Flair's name on it.

BTW, what do you do with them? I thought about buying a replica Winged WWF title belt but couldn't justify spending $250 or $300 on something that would just collect dust.

I own the Classic WCW Big Gold replica. If you can get the big plate in the center curved, then it is definitely worth the money. It just looks a little ackward being straight.

The RAW version looks to be a little better quality though, and the side plates are longer and a bit taller.

Exactly my thoughts. I mean I am a huge wrestling fan but I would never spend 300 hundred on a fake ttitle belt. Id rather get one of those plastic or foam ones thank you very much lol

I'd love a title as a gift, but three hundred bucks? No way, sorry.

As for advice, screw Triple H's dickplate. Get the NWA strap.

Both of my Big Golds that I had prior, I curved the mainplate. It does make a huge difference in how it looks. It looks ugly when the main plate is left flat. It looks alot more like the real thing when it is curved.

These things cost $300+, and what can you do with them? You bring those out in public and people will laugh at you for being a giant loser. You bring them to WWE events on TV, and you look silly holding it.

Most of these belts are not over $300. At least if you look at places like ebay.

Also, I don't consider someone a loser if they spend money for a belt. IMO, they are great collectibles. They are the ultimate prize for a wrestler, so its nice to have a copy of a championship belt, because to me, it represents the sport.

Also, if alot of you guys think its nuts to order a $300 belt, then you would think there's some people out there who are outright insane because there's sites out there that cater to people who collect 'REAL' wrestling belts, that cost anywhere for $1000-2000. Myself, I think that's too steep, so I collect the cheaper, lesser quality belts.

Also, hypothetical question. Do you guys think it was sacriligious for the WWE to put their logo on the Big Gold? I mean, it was a belt that didn't have a logo on it, and to me represented a true World title.

So HHH's version of the belt is a straight center plaque and not curved? Please specify.

All the real belts main plates are curved. The Fig Inc replica belts are not curved ( I know Fig Inc states that the plates are ' curved' but usually look like shit) and are usually flat as a pancake. There's ways to get around that; mostly by putting the belt's main plate over your knee and pushing down on both sides to curve it and make it look alot more like the real thing.

It seems this topic has died, but I wanted to add one other point to anyone thinking of buying a replica belt. Out of the WCW belts I have, the strap feels EXTREMELY "gummy" on everything except the big gold. The strap on the big gold is far and away the best quality of any belt I own. Its not too thick, holds-up very well, and even smells like real leather as opposed to the other relica WCW belts.

The straps on the WWE belts are a little on the thick-side, but look very good as well. The straps on the WWE belts have the WWE logo embossed along the edge of the strap, all the way around. The problem with the straps being a little too thick is that the material theyre made of tends to warp after a lot of handling.
