Can Wendy's counter-sue for slander or something? I want this bitch to pay...

Wendy's has already said if they find proof she did this, they will be suing her. And I say, good on em. And for those of you wondering, the reward has doubled to $100,000 dollars for any information leading to the origin of the finger.

Apparently, she didn't realize they have ways of figuring out whether or not the finger came from them or an outside source. She just expected them to settle out of court with her without the bat of an eyelash.

Oops.

Don't f*ck with zombie Dave Thomas.

That, and Wendy's makes some damn good chili to go along with a spicy chicken sandwich and a drink.

Amen on the Spicy Chicken. If I were to attempt something like this, I'd just ask for like Spicy Chicken Sandwhiches and Frosty's for life.

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- The woman who claimed she found a well-manicured finger in her bowl of Wendy's chili last month was arrested Thursday night in Las Vegas, police said.

Anna Ayala was taken into custody at her home, San Jose police spokesman Enrique Garcia said. He said police would not give any details until a news conference Friday afternoon. Las Vegas police also refused to comment.

The arrest is the latest twist in the bizarre case about how the 11/2-inch fingertip ended up in a bowl of fast-food chili.

Ayala told police she found the finger March 22 while eating at a Wendy's in San Jose. She said she intended to sue but relented, claiming the publicity was too emotionally taxing.

When police and health officials failed to find any missing digits among the workers involved in the restaurant's supply chain, suspicion fell on Ayala, whose story has become a late-night punch line.

Ayala has a litigious history. She has filed claims against several corporations, including a former employer and General Motors, though it is unclear from court records whether she received any money. She said she got $30,000 from El Pollo Loco after her 13-year-old daughter got sick at one of the chain's Las Vegas-area restaurants. El Pollo Loco officials say she did not get a dime.

Earlier Thursday, Ohio-based Wendy's International Inc. announced it had ended its internal investigation, saying it could find no credible link between the finger and the restaurant chain.

All the employees at the San Jose store were found to have all their fingers, and no suppliers reported any hand or finger injuries, the company said.

Sales have dropped at franchises in Northern California, forcing layoffs and reduced hours, the company said. Wendy's also has hired private investigators, set up a hot line for tips and offered a $100,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to the finger's original owner.

Yeah but the damage was done. Still, I'll go back to Wendy's; their spicy chicken, chili, frosties and hamburgers are just too good.

On a similar subject...

When I worked at El Pollo Loco in 1995 (EXCELLENT Mexican fast food and more authentic than your average Mexican restaurant), this huge, disgusting fat ass would come in at least twice a week. He wore shorts and shirts that let his fat belly hang out. He would always order the all-you-can-eat chicken and side dinner. The strange thing is, he would always come in with businessmen in nice suits and they'd talk some kind of business. Well, one day, the daughter of the assistant manager (who was slightly retarded) said something to the effect of, "Oh, back again?" when he came back for more chicken. He called for the manager, who was Arab and fairly fresh off the boat, and told him that the girl offended him by asking that question, implying that he was fat.

The Arab gave him SIX MONTHS of free food and the girl had to be suspended for that duration. Man...fat asses will do anything to find ways to get access to more and more food.

Update

Fucking assholes. I'd give them the finger, but they'd probably use it to sue another store...

Couple Plead Guilty in Wendy's Finger Case

Sep 09 4:47 PM US/Eastern

By PAUL SAKUMA

Associated Press Writer

SAN JOSE, Calif.

A Nevada couple pleaded guilty Friday to all charges related to planting a human finger in a bowl of Wendy's chili in a scheme to extort money from the fast food restaurant chain.

Anna Ayala, 39, and Jaime Placencia, 43, pleaded guilty to conspiring to file a false claim and attempted grand theft in a scheme that the Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy's International Inc. claimed cost it $2.5 million in lost sales because of bad publicity.

"Thankfully, law enforcement thwarted their successful efforts at theft," said Deputy District Attorney David Boyd.

Ayala's attorney, Rick Ehler, said she was truly remorseful.

"There are a lot of people that work for Wendy's that were harmed, she always felt a lot of remorse about that," he said.

Ayala claimed to have found the fingertip March 22 while eating chili with her family at a Wendy's in San Jose. Authorities said they believed it was a hoax, but the story of the tasteless finger food quickly circled the globe and became fodder for late-night comedy.

A search for the finger's owner eventually led to one of Placencia's co-workers, who lost it in an industrial accident in Las Vegas, police said.

Ayala was arrested in April in her suburban Las Vegas home and accused of trying to shake down Wendy's by filing a claim against the restaurant chain.

She later withdrew the claim as scrutiny of her find grew. Investigators found that she had filed numerous legal claims against businesses in her name or for her children.

Wendy's said no employees at the San Jose restaurant were missing fingers, and no suppliers of chili ingredients had reported any finger injuries. There was no evidence the finger had been cooked, authorities determined.

The franchise where the finger claim was made saw an immediate 60 percent to 70 percent drop in business, said Stephen Jay, marketing director at JEM Management, which owns the restaurant. Dozens of employees at the company's Northern California franchises were laid off.

Ayala also pleaded guilty to defrauding a woman by selling a motor home she didn't own, and Placencia also pleaded guilty to failing to pay child support.

Ayala faces up to nearly 10 years in state prison when sentenced Nov. 2. Her husband faces up to 13 years behind bars.
