Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 I've been hearing that on the Howard Stern show he claimed that Mitch died. Not just on his show, but various other shows also. The following is posted on: http://www.joshsneed.com/default.asp ***Update - My favorite comedian and good friend Mitch Hedberg has passed away. Please read my tribute to him in the road diary section.*** http://www.joshsneed.com/index.asp?A=5&P=26 Is all of this fake, or is this actually true? If it's true, it really sucks. I know many of you guys are huge fans of his, as am I. Sincerely, ...Downhome... EDIT: The following is posted on ComedyCentral now, but there isn't a news story yet:
Guest meirslooth Report post Posted March 31, 2005 It's true. In his bio on the Comedy Central website, it says, "Tragically, Mitch Hedberg passed away this week. Mitch was a beloved member of the Comedy Central family, and we join fans in our sadness. He will be missed. " This really sucks....
strummer 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 it's true, RIP Mitch Here is a summary from marksfriggin.com Howard said that he got a note from Mitch Hedberg's manager last night and they were told that Mitch had died last night. Artie said there were rumors about his drug use but he didn't know the reason for his death. Gary said the guy who called was actually not Mitch's manager, it was Rick Messina, but he was really sad about the news. Howard and Robin talked about what a good guy that seemed to be. Howard said he didn't seem all that happy of a guy. Artie had a story about Mitch that he didn't want to tell when Mitch was in the studio just a couple of weeks ago. Artie said that he and Mitch had the same agent, Jennifer at William Morris, back in 1998 or so. Artie said the agent was the best chick around but he had to leave the agency for a few reasons. He said that he and Mitch had a development deal at the time over at FOX and it was a $750,000 deal. Artie said he drank it all away... Artie said it was all thanks to that agent. Mitch had a deal for comparable money and the pilot. Artie asked his agent if he could be on Mitch's show instead of getting his own sucky one. The agent told Artie that no one could find Mitch because he got his first payment and disappeared so they weren't going to do the pilot. Howard said those development deals are great and he knows someone who has had about 7 deals which pay really well.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 You know what's weird? His website was updated today to add his dates at a club in Baltimore. So if he died last night...that is a little morbid by the webmaster of Mitch's site.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 "I was walking down the street with my friend and he said "I hear music" As though there's another way you can take it in. Your not special. That's how I recieve it too. I tried to taste it, but it did not work." Dude always told jokes that I would tell if I was a comedian. Loved his sense of humor. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 I usually have my doubts about anyone's death near April Fool's Day but after seeing a recent picture of Mitch, my doubts are fading. Christ he looked like hell. Like a drugged out Richard Belzer.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 "A severed foot makes the ultimate stocking-stuffer." That sucks. He was one of my favortie stand up comedians.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 This sucks. I hadnt seen him on tv since an appearance on I think it was either conan or leno or maybe kimmel. His Comedy Central Special is still my fav one. "I was in a death metal band, people either loved us or hated us, or they thought we were ok. Most bands have names like Mortuary or Rigor Mortis or Obituary, we werent that intense, we just went with...injured, later changed it to Acapella....as we were walking out of the pawn shop" RIP MITCH

UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 A guy from Howard Stern's show posted on a Stern forum that he called Mitch last night and he's not dead, and that it's an April Fools joke. I hope so, that would fucking suck ass if he died.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 A guy from Howard Stern's show posted on a Stern forum that he called Mitch last night and he's not dead, and that it's an April Fools joke. I hope so, that would fucking suck ass if he died. I'm still undecided. Part of me thinks he'll be on stage tonight at the Improv in Baltimore at midnight. Like I said, I never trust the death of anyone this close to April Fool's Day.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 A USAToday Blog: http://www.usatoday.com/life/columnist/hipclicks/blog.htm Thursday, March 31: Remembering a funnyman: This morning Howard Stern announced that comedian Mitch Hedberg, a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show and a favorite on college campuses, has died at age 37. A spokesman for Hedberg's agent just confirmed to me that it's true. Hedberg last appeared on Stern's show just two weeks ago. According to this profile, which ran last week in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Hedberg made 10 appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and had been compared to Steven Wright because of his quick jokes and offbeat sense of humor. His wife, Lynn Shawcroft, often joined him on the road as his opening act. A sample Hedberg one-liner: "If you could understand Morse Code, a tap dancer would drive you crazy." 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Apparently his wife has now confirmed it as well.... Damn I had a chance to see him and Stephen at the Tower Theatre in PA but didn't have the money to go see them. I figured I'd get a chance to see Mitch at a later date. Real shame. Condolences. Also as someone had said, if this was an April Fool's Joke it would have been incredibly tasteless thing to do to his fans.

jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 I just saw him in January and it was great. I was looking forward to seeing him again. I'm very sad about this since there are very few comedians who I actually make the effort to go out and see live.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Apparently his show at the Tower was a sign of things to come as he was beyond wasted and babbling into the mic for an hour. Damn. It sounds like Mitch spun out of control more than ever and couldn't save himself before he crashed. Looks like another funny comic has had his life cut short by drinking and drugs. Damn shame, just a god damn shame.

Modern Man's Hustle 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 "Naming appliances is the best job ever. All you do is say what it does, and add an "er" to the end. At the National Appliance Naming Institute: Hey, what's that shit do? It keeps shit fresh. Oh....that's a fresher. I'm going on break." He was beyond wasted when he came to Arizona a couple months back, doing the same shit 2Gold was talking about. Rolling around on the stage, babbling...it was pretty shitty. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2005 Comedy Central showed his special last night, I was laughing and sad at the same time almost. They showed a brief in memory of at the end of the show.
