Is there one? I was just bored today, and noticed that Incandenza, Kotzenjuge, and Agent of Oblivion all use it as their post count. I figured it's probably just random, but watching this Orioles' game with two hits in the last five innings has given me a lot of time on my hands.

Integers in MySQL can range from -8388607 to 8388607. Without looking at the database, I'd assume that the postcount field is an INT.
