Gore failed out of Divinity School.

And Bush never claimed to have invented the internet.

Fact is, I don't think Bush is a stupid person, but why does he get a pass for saying he's a woman, and he's opposed to freedom and all that? Because he MISSPOKE.

No one in their right mind can claim that Gore intended to lay claim to creating the internet. Yet he gets both hammered and misquoted for this one quote. Do you honestly believe he thought he invented the internet? Or that he even thought he could make people believe he invented the internet? Of course not. That would be silly.

As an aside, the Bush Soverignty quote IS really bad. Balanced by his awesome "want some wood?" quote.

When I heard that quote I envisioned trade negotiationgs as follows:

Hey, Japan. I hear ya got some robots, and some pokermen. (pause) Want some wood?

he invented the Internets...

Clearly why he won. He is at least one, if not more, internet better than Gore.

Considering that he ALSO claimed that "Love Story" was based on he and Tipper --- yes, you can EASILY argue that Gore is an egomaniacal blowhard.

A politician making shit up to make them sound better isn't exactly news. Hillary claimed she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, which is clearly bullshit (he scaled Mt. Everest 6 years AFTER she was born and was not a name in the world before tht point). Gore claimed "Love Story" was based on Tipper and himself.

Well, one of the characters in Love Story was based on Gore. A Tennessee newspaper incorrectly reported that it was based on both Gores, and that's where Gore got the information.

I'm fully aware that Gore and Tommy Lee Jones are the basis for the male leads.

Tipper was nothing.

I mean, if you want to talk egomaniacal, Bush has essentially said he's a conduit for God.

He most assuredly has not.

1: So? Who the fuck cares? At least he wasn't busy risking people lives driving drunk, or pulling a Randy Marsh at football games(I'm sorry...I thought this was Amuraka), or stealing from hotels. But he flunked out of Divinity school....whoooooooo.

2: And Gore didn't claim to invent the internet either.

"God speaks through me."—Smoketown, Pennsylvania, July 16, 2004

Pretty much the definition of being a conduit for God.

Just like that egomaniacal dick John Paul II, right?

Yup, proclaiming a persistent faith in God and that your actions are driven by that IS as bad as claiming that he invented the internet.

If you're failing out of Divinity School, hard to claim you're brighter than a guy who graduated from Harvard Business School.

Read the quote.

Nope. Nice try, though.

And I'd like to read a transcript. Forgive me if I don't buy the word of the press about anything involving Bush.

You know, that whole forged memo thing has kinda killed my faith in them entirely.

The Pope actually DOES claim to be an infallible direct conduit with God, duh.

And saying 'God speaks through me' is WAYYYY different than saying your actions are guided by your religious beliefs.

However, if we're going to go back to saying that Gore claimed he really did invent the internet, how are we allowing a president who thinks he's the first lady and blatantly states he never stops looking for ways to harm our country to govern? Outrageous!

The Popes claim that God works through them. Bush is allegedly claiming that his faith in God is what drives his actions.

I'll also remind you that the White House has said Bush never said that.

And saying 'God speaks through me' is WAYYYY different than saying your actions are guided by your religious beliefs.

Well, better than having a President who seems to think it's perfectly normal for Buddhist monks to make big campaign contributions in spite of that pesky "Vow of poverty" thing.

We're just sniping at this point, and I'm fairly certain that Bush quote was taken out of context.

So, for the record you REALLY think Gore ACTUALLY either

A). Thought he invented the internet

B). THought he could fool people into believing he invented the internet

and not

C). Misspoke (especially when you take his whole quote into context, in which he's talking about congressional initiatives.)

I think he was an arrogant blowhard who bought his own bullshit, just as the guy he served in office with did.

Gore obviously didn't give a fuck about Divinity school. It was just a way to get outta Nam. If he, hell...if Kerry coulda pulled a Bush, they would have too. So he flunked out of Divinity school....he went on to pull grades on par with Bush in college.

And if you can't see that he didn't say he invented the internet, I need to start questioning your schooling.

Gore did -- the whole "I'm a journalist now" schtick.

And Bush served.

Honorably.

I guess it's a shame that the left now thinks the Guard is so bad. I hope the left continues with these attacks because it simply demonstrates how anti-military the left still is,

Oh, and keep in mind in the year the left loves to bitch that Bush went "AWOL" during (1973), the war was over and there was no active combat for Bush to go to. The Paris Peace Accords had already been signed.

Oh, and Bush DID volunteer to go to Vietnam, but didn't have enough flight hours.

So he flunked out of Divinity school....he went on to pull grades on par with Bush in college.

At dramatically inferior schools...

And if you can't see that he didn't say he invented the internet, I need to start questioning your schooling.

If you can't see it, I doubt you're in position to question anybody's schooling.

I'd like to point out that we are having basically the same argument in two threads now without saying the same thing.

We either kick ass HARD or we are really sad.

...

I think I know which one.

:(

Fair rephrasing?  It takes a idiot to change his statment into him saying "I invented the internet".

"I took the initiative in creating" is not markedly different than "I invented".

-=Mike

"I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system. "

unless you are saying that you thought he was saying he invented moving forward initiatives, the statement pretty obvious what he meant. And yes...you do have to be an idiot to try and pretend he is saying he invented the internet.

Not really. You have to be an idiot to make such a fucking moronic comment.

Then again, Gore never was the sharpest knife in the drawer.

-=Mike

You are a Bush supporter right?

Yup. And Gore was dumber than Bush by a healthy margin.

-=Mike

I don't think either man is "dumb." I think they're both very bright men who speak poorly: Gore being wooden, Bush stumbling over words. Neither is any great intellectual heavyweight, but they're both still a lot smarter than most American adults.

Bush on Social Security:

Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to what has been promised.

Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red.

Okay, better? I'll keep working on it.

If only Josiah Bartlet could be our President. Why, he's everything the Democrats wish a Democrat could be! ::wub::

Of course, this criticism is from the same side who said there was a crisis pretty constantly in the 1990's --- but, apparently, Bush's tax cuts generates so much more tax revenue than Clinton ever did that the crisis is gone.

That has nothing to do with what I posted.

What criticism? All I posted was Bush talking (horribly) about his plan.

Bush has to take a very complex plan and try to make it understandable to the masses. Not the easiest thing to do.
