Ced 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 Pop-up blockers are allegedly on, I've Spybot'ed and Ad-Aware'd every spyware program on my computer and these pop-ups still won't stop. It's weird because I'm running Firefox and yet the pop-ups appear as IE windows. Anybody care to take a shot at this?

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 if the pop-ups appear as IE windows and you are using Firefox, then they are not coming from the web. Are you running a P2P program like Kazaa? That's one possibility.
Guest CronoT Report post Posted April 14, 2005 If you don't have it already, go to Download.com and download the Pop-Up closer program POW!. POW! is slightly different, in that you have to "add" the pop-up in question to it's list. However, once you've done that, any time that pop-up appears, POW! will automatically close it, and it will only be on your screen for about half a second. The best part is, it's free-ware. The people who made this program appearently hate pop-up, too. Here's the direct link to it, just for you: http://www.download.com/AnalogX-Pow/3000-7...tml?tag=lst-0-
Dimensions 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 I had a similar problem and it was caused by AIM. http://www.jayloden.com/VirusClean.htm The program that cleans AIM can be found there. I have since switched to trillian so I don't have to worry about that anymore.
