Anya 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 I got the LE last night. I picked the girl on the cover and gave myself balanced stats. So far the game seems like KOTOR, but with real time combat. Is it just me or is the combat really choppy looking? It looks so bad I'm thinking it might be a problem with my Xbox, but you can never tell with Bioware. KOTOR looked bad too. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 I haven't picked this up yet, and as you know I'm no XBox expert seeing as how I just got it, but I immediately thought about the choppiness of KOTOR battles as well so it could be the game itself...
Anya 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Just beat it. Only took like 15 hours. Chapters 1-3 are the meat of the game. It's like 12 of the hours. 4, 5, 6 and 7 are pretty much more action game and less RPG. It's like a big linear rollercoaster ride of huge battle after huge battle. Really great story though. By the end it felt like an epic adventure.

I think I'm gonna sell it back to the store and get God of War or something.
Anya 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Open. God of War is great.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 Is this even worth buying, or is it better suited as a rental? The gameplay style and the shooter bonus levels look great, and I think I'll love the story, but the brevity of the game is the one reason why I'm not sure whether to get JE or some other game like Psychonauts or Unreal Championship 2. Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 I thought this game was totally a turn-based RPG. Is that completely wrong? That's the only reason I haven't touched this one yet.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted April 27, 2005 I thought this game was totally a turn-based RPG. Is that completely wrong? That's the only reason I haven't touched this one yet. No, it's not a turn-based RPG whatsoever. The battle is real-time ---- but, honestly, the battle seems really wonky. I'd advise a rental before a purchase. -=Mike
EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 This game is just too easy, you've GOT to play on Grandmaster for it to be any challange at all.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 27, 2005 Yeah this game looks to be more of a rental, disappointing considering I was going to buy it. I'm not dropping $50 on a game that'll only last me 10-15 hours, though. Already made that mistake with Fable (which, again, was a fun rental, but not a good purchase.. unless I paid like 20 bucks for it or something)
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 Chalk this one up under "Letdown of the Year" so far for me. Clunky battle scenes, bad dialogue and horrendous fighting. I hate having to re-focus to whomever I was fighting if I want to change targets.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 This game sure as fuck isn't Ninja Gaiden. It's not much of an action game at all, but the story is alright. It's definitely still an RPG first.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I finally got around to starting this (rented it from GameFly). Although I own KOTOR, I have never opened it. This is my first BioWare game. I chose Wu the Lotus Blossom as my character (I'll always select a female protagonist if given a choice, and she reminded me of O-Ren Ishii) and after a little over an hour, I've just beaten the bandit/ghost/assassin beach battle. I did a lot of exploring beforehand. I'm loving the gameplay so far, but I've always been a fan of the martial arts, the Chinese and Japanese imperial systems, philosophy, and the like, so that's not too surprising. I was scared by all the bad reviews and comparisons to Fable, but JE is a lot more fun for me than Fable ever was. I'm seriously considering a purchase. I have a weird quirk about me, where I'll rent a game and barely play it because I feel that I should buy it and add it to my collection if I am to play through it completely. Even if I never play it again, I want to own it. Hmm. I was considering using GameFly's "Keep It" feature and buying the game for $40 since it's in flawless condition. However, I don't believe it's the Limited Edition (How do I tell? There was no extra disc.) and I'd rather have that version for the same price.
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2005 I just finished this. Thought it was a great game, but when it was over - all I could think was already? I certainly thought there would be another twist after I battled Emperor Sun Li at the palace, but nope...that was it. I'm not even sure I want to go back through and play it closed fist. I'll probably just move on to another game. Great while it lasted though.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2005 I still haven't progressed past the 4 hour mark at Tien's Landing. Too many games! And I have 2 new, unopened RPGs waiting for me.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 2, 2005 Although I own KOTOR, I have never opened it. This is my first BioWare game. No, no. Open the game, and bask in the glow of Queen Bastila. You can't help but love her when she appears!
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 I second that. I hadn't opened it for a long time because of all my incomplete games, but I finally did a while back and it is great, especially if you love Star Wars. It kills Jade Empire, despite the 2 games' similarities.

Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Yes, KOTOR does. I love Bastila so much. Like, I seriously want to be just like her. Except without a British accent. A snoody Russian one, if at all possible.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2005 I've been playing video games for the better portion of my life. I got my NES under the chirstmas tree and played Top Gun and Contra until my hands were numb. Anyone who has yet to play KOTOR...shame on you. It's a system seller. It's probably the best 40 hours I've sat in front of a console for. It's just...that...good.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2005 I'll admit, Carth was one whiney, bitchy asshole...

I HATE that Star Wars shit, but love KOTOR. From what the Star Wars geeks say, it has nothing to do with all the movies, or whatever... they just copied the physical characters. Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 6, 2005 What, no Carth Onasi fans on KOTOR? Yeah, me neither. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, you have to be a fan... As a female character, you have to bullshit falling in love with him... because it's the only way after turning HEEL that you can MURDER the constantly whining pussy. And then MURDER everyone else. I just love KILLING everyone in that game. Especially those fucking snobby wookiies.
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted November 6, 2005 ... Wait, I liked Onasi. Hah hah. Yes, I actually liked listening to his whining and everything. Oh, the hours he spent regaling me with tales about his poor dead nameless wife . I don't know why, but it hit my fangirl core. That usually doesn't happen. And/but the only reason I didn't like doing that dark side female thing is because of poor Mission. Yes it was funny to get Zaalbar to kill her, but she's so adorable. <3 <3 <3 ... And Carth's death was a little lame. Mr. One Kick to the Face, geez. That sucked. Anyways. I went into KotOR hating Star Wars, but still adored the game. And bought an Xbox so I could continue playing the damn thing. It's one of my top three games, ever.
