All-Time Draft Formalities

Recommended Posts

Ok gang. In order to set this up, I need lineups and stuff. Please indicate how you would like to set up your team for the first quarter of the season. I need the following...

Starting Lineup (Including Platoons, if applicable)

Rotation

Bullpen (Indicate Closer, if applicable)

Reserves (5 of your 30 players need to be on the reserve list)

Also, you can either pick a current manager to model your style after, or pick Earl Weaver since everyone loves his style and I have a book on it.

Thank you.

I already did the breakdown of my roster in another thread.

I don't know what manager to assign but for managing style I want almost no bunting although fairly agressive when it comes to stealing bases.

It's your team jew, but wouldn't it make better sense to mix the lefties and righties up, that way it doesn't lead to a pitching change where a right hander that has great success against lefites and vice-versa?

Closer: Trevor Hoffman

Bench: Tom Haller, C

Bid McPhee, 2B

Jack Clark, OF/1B

Fred Lynn, OF

Sal Bando, 3B

That's my 25-man roster. w00t~!

Reserves: Uh, whoever's left. :-/

Stadium: Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Manager: Earl Weaver (I would have chosen him even if he weren't the default, since he, y'know, managed the Orioles and all.)

If coaches matter...

3B: Cal Ripken Sr.

1B: Davey Johnson (he manages if Weaver gets ejected (if the sim does ejections))

Bullpen: Elrod Hendricks

Bench: Joe Altobelli (becomes 1B coach if Johnson has to manage)

Pitching: Ray Miller

Hitting: Eddie Murray

GM: Pat Gillick

I'm not sure how Weaver's strategies carry over to NL rules, but the only person who bunts should be the pitcher. I'd like an aggressive approach on the bases and at the plate.

EDIT: Added 25th player, and some coaches, in case they matter..

Managerial style-agressive, not afraid to steal bases, bunting ok..sacrifice bunting for the pitcher, and bunting for hits for Bell, and occasionally Paul Molitor, and whoever the 2nd basemen is, and alot of hit and run ball.

I'll take Weaver.

I'm going to try micromanage for the first quarter of the season and see where it takes me. Might as well. I'll go with two different line-ups. If this is too much of a problem, then I'll probably go with the line-up against lefties. First, against right-handed starting pitching:

1. Tony Gwynn (RF) - L

2. Eddie Collins (2B) - L

3. Lou Gehrig (1B) - L

4. Duke Snyder (CF) - L

5. Charlie Keller (LF) - L

6. George Davis (SS) - S

7. Darrell Porter © - L

8. Graig Nettles (3B) - L

Against left-handed:

1. Tony Gwynn (RF) - L

2. Hughie Jennings (SS) - R

3. Eddie Collins (2B) - L

4. Lou Gehrig (1B) - L

5. Duke Snyder (CF) - L

6. Buck Ewing © - R

7. Charlie Keller (LF) - L

8. Ken Boyer (3B) - R

Bench:

Fred Clarke (LF) - L

Kenny Lofton (CF) - L

Projected Rotation:

Bob Feller (RHP)

Tom Glavine (LHP)

Jim Bunning (RHP)

Vida Blue (LHP)

Wes Ferrell (RHP)

Bullpen:

Stan Coveleski (RHP) Spot Starter

Frank Viola (LHP) Spot Starter

Ron Perranoski (LHP)

Ed Roebuck (RHP)

Clay Carroll (RHP)

Frank Linzy (RHP)

Jesse Orosco (LHP) Closer

Reserves:

Luke Easter (1B) - L

Dusty Baker (RF) - R

Elmer Flick (RF) - L

Larry Sherry (RHP)

Hugh Casey (RHP)
