Can you Stump the Schwab?

Recommended Posts

I do well watching at home. Get me in front of a camera and I'd no doubt choke.

As for the show itself. I enjoy sports trivia, and have a good overall knowledge so it's fun to watch.

No way. The Schwab knows WAY too much. Whatever obscure fact you can think of... he knows it. I don't buy the show as 100% authentic, and if it is... I feel sorry for him.

I think he's much more normal than how he acts on the show. He's a college graduate, and is employed by ESPN. So I don't think he's some idiot savant.

Schwab while clearly being an expert, didn't know all the players in Michigan's Fab Five on the show a year ago, which is a choke by an expert.

it is 100% legit, he DOES know that much. He is married and has a family, so I don't know if we should feel sorry for him or anything, he does have a life. And plus it is his job to know that much

That guy's fucking ridiculous. They'll ask something like the starting lineup of the 1993 Philadelphia Eagles, and they'll just assume that he's got at least 20 out of 22.

He doesn't know golf worth shit though. They were asking how many weeks Tiger Woods was #1 in a tiebreaker for the championship the other day, and he and the other guy were both off by more than two years. I thought that was one of the easier ones, but if the other guy hadn't made a terrible guess, the Schwab would have lost.

I'm pretty good with football knowledge, but not even close to that much. Wow.

Someone as a joke asked me who the starting lineup of the 1932 Yankees were, and I started rattling off names.

I'm going to make an honest effort, without looking.

A couple are easy. Tris Speaker in center, Duffy Lewis in left. Heinie Wagner played in the lineup, he's easy because H. Wagner reminds one of Honus. Everett Scott played on that team, if I remember correctly. I keep thinking Jimmy Collins, but wasn't he gone at that point. Ditto Harry Hooper, who keeps coming to mind. After that, I'm stumped on the lineup. The rotation consisted almost entirely of Smokey Joe Wood. Eddie Cicotte did play briefly on the team as well.

Looking at this, I missed Bill Carrigan, Jake Stahl, Steve Yerkes, and Larry Gardner. Everett Scott did not play on the team, nor did Jimmy Collins. Both did play on the Red Sox at some point, however.
