Mik Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I thought Tom Brady was a good host. None of the skits had me rolling on the floor in laughter, but they were mostly entertaining. Seth's Peyton Manning was pretty funny too.
TheBostonStrangler Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Yeah, I'm wondering where it is too. It's a nice staple of my Sunday night. Damn you for not providing me free entertainment! I enjoyed it thoroughly, although there were a couple weak sketches (notably the jazz singer one). They should have done the Manning/McNabb one earlier in the night too. Overall, I enjoyed the show a lot.
smh810 Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Barron is going back to NY tomorrow and doesnt have computer access right now. I thought it was surprisingly one of their best shows this year. Tom Brady did an admirable job as host (and wasnt overly reliant on cue cards), Dr. Phil and the Smigel cartoon were tremendous and the Jiminy Glick commentary was the best WU segment in YEARS (and I say that with all due respect to the commentaries in recent years).
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Fuck and I missed it. Anyone know where I can get bittorrents or the like of past SNL episodes I may have missed? I would've loved to see this.
bob_barron Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 What smh said. I should be able to get my review typed up tomorrow night/Tuesday morning.
Vern Gagne Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 When Horatio for the one millionth time started giggling during the Restaurant sketch, i turned the station. Also, why was Martin Short playing Jimminy Glick? He should of gone old school, and broken out Ed Grimley.
Mole Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 If it weren't for Bob, I wouldn't even have thought to watch SNL. I didn't start watching it until I read Bob's reviews.
starvenger Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Also, why was Martin Short playing Jimminy Glick? He should of gone old school, and broken out Ed Grimley. Probably because that's what everyone expects...
Guest Evolution Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I think Short is getting a movie based on his Jiminy Glick character, which kinda surprised me as to why he didn't even mention it during that commentary. Dr. Phil and TV Funhouse were my two favorites of the night, as Hammond's Dr. Phil impersonation is dead on. I fast-forwarded through another celebrity food chain thing, and I agree the McNabb/Peyton/Brady thing should've been done earlier in the night: I get the feeling it was going to be his monologue but perhaps they felt it wouldn't reach enough people.
Jericholic82 Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 saw most of it. Brady seemed comfortable doing live tv. He also comes across as very likable. Horatio sure screwed up that indian restaurant skit. I like how they always have the celebrity restaurants in northern new jersey. and they always mention them as being next to Derek Jeters taco hole (a kit they did when DJ hosted in Dec 01, which was a much funnier skit than this one sadly) I missed lots of parts so I cant give a full rating myself. I did enjoye the carnival skit when brady kept missing the football target,
Vern Gagne Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Also, why was Martin Short playing Jimminy Glick? He should of gone old school, and broken out Ed Grimley. Probably because that's what everyone expects... It's been over twenty years since Grimley's been around. Do you really think the younger viewers, even know who that is? Besides, I don't find Jiminy Glick the least bit funny.
Chazz Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Guess I'm In The minority because I thought It sucked big time. Brady did the best he could, but the writing was just horrible as It has been for the majority of this season.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Anyone know where I can get bittorrents or the like of past SNL episodes I may have missed? I would've loved to see this. Well?

Probably because that's what everyone expects... It's been over twenty years since Grimley's been around. Do you really think the younger viewers, even know who that is? Point. So how about this then - viewers have a faint idea of who Jiminy Glick is, so SNL used him instead of Grimley, since they were afraid that viewers might look and go "who the fuck is that?" Anyone know where I can get bittorrents or the like of past SNL episodes I may have missed? I would've loved to see this. Still haven't found anything. Sorry.
Vern Gagne Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Point. So how about this then - viewers have a faint idea of who Jiminy Glick is, so SNL used him instead of Grimley, since they were afraid that viewers might look and go "who the fuck is that?" That likely was the case. SNL could of introduced Ed Grimley to a new audience. It's a small thing, but Grimley imo is a hundred times funnier than Jiminy Glick couuld hope to be.
starvenger Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Anyone know where I can get bittorrents or the like of past SNL episodes I may have missed? I would've loved to see this. Still haven't found anything. Sorry. Latest I've found was Aston Kuchtcher/Hollaback Girl...
Mik Posted May 13, 2005 Author Report Posted May 13, 2005 Show was so bad he didn't want to do it? It was a pretty bad episode. Now that's it's nearly a week later I don't even remember anything except the Jackass style opening. But Will Ferell is on tomorrow - bob should save his energy for that one.
smh810 Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 He was at ROH last week and wont see the show till tomorrow (He's picking up the tape today and watching it tomorrow afternoon) and come on it wasnt all bad the second half of the show wasnt much but the Couple that Should be Divorced ROCKED.
bob_barron Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 What's your excuse this time Bob? I was at ROH Saturday. I got a tape on Wednesday but it turned out to be a tape of an episode of ER and the 9/11 Hearings. I'm getting another tape tonight and will try to watch and review tomorrow
