Lil' Bitch Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 What's the difference (besides the covers) if any?
yankovic fan Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 I have the second one, which is the most recent and it essentially sucks. It has Trailers and not much else in the way of special features.
BlackFlagg Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 I think the first one is oop as I don't seem to see it for sale anywhere...I think other than that the only difference is the anthology set was remastered for better picture quality.
Bruiser Chong Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 The Anthology was also supposed to include a sixth disc which featured Sly's A&E Bio special.
Guest Askewniverse Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 The first set is the 25th Anniversary Gift Set, released in 2001. With the exception of Rocky, the only extras are the theatrical trailers. All five movies are in widescreen, but Rocky II and Rocky IV are non-anamorphic. Extras for Rocky - Special Edition: - commentary track - Video commentary by Sylvester Stallone - "Behind the scenes with John G. Avildsen" featurette - "A Tribute to Burgess Meredith" featurette - "A Tribute to James Crabe" featurette - Theatrical trailer - TV spots The second set is the Rocky Anthology, released last year. All five movies are in anamorphic widescreen and have a new high definition transfer. Rocky includes a DTS audio track. The only extras on the movie discs are the theatrical trailers. As Bruiser mentioned, the Anthology set is also supposed to include a sixth disc. Some of the sets didn't include the sixth disc, which pissed people off. The sixth disc comes in a cardboard sleeve instead of an Amaray case. If you want the sixth disc, you have to look at the silver sticker that is on shrinkwrap of the set. Set with bonus disc - sticker mentions the bonus disc "Rocky Road to the Top." Set without bonus disc - sticker mentions the new high-definition transfers. If you get the set without the bonus disc, contact MGM for it.
Karnage Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Not really a Rocky question but does anyone know which Rambo Trilogy is better? The first or the re-release?
BlackFlagg Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Not really a Rocky question but does anyone know which Rambo Trilogy is better? The first or the re-release? No idea, but the newest Ultimate Edition is the only on in print at the moment
Downhome Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 The Anthology was also supposed to include a sixth disc which featured Sly's A&E Bio special. You can contact the stuido and they'll mail that disc to anyone who wants it, that didn't get it. Just go to DVDTalk and search for the thread talking about it. I don't even have the set (or any of the movies yet), but I emailed them and asked for it, and they send it to me, no questions asked. I haven't watched that bonus disc yet though either.
