Advertised in the Minneapolis area for Judgment Day...(SPOILERS):

 

John Cena vs. JBL (I Quit for WWE title)

Eddie vs. Rey

Carlito vs. Big Show

Angle vs. Booker

 

Add in a tag title defense for MNM, a US title match for Orlando Jordan, and some other crap with their new characters and you have a better than usual looking Smackdown card...of course that isn't saying much.

 

Eddie/Rey and Angle/Booker are REALLY going to have to deliver.

I could see Chavo Vs London for the Cruiserweight title being added to the card. or maybe a triple-threat with Kidman.

 

I wonder what Undertaker is going to be doing.

I'm still uncertain if I should even bother with going to this live. I probably will though.

 

They were blatantly advertising Cena v. JBL on TV commercials during Smackdown this past week here in MN. Obviously they are running these commericals and such way too early before the show they are running ads on are even building such to this point. I guess not that it really matters but it's just bad to leak the card out before Bradshaw even has won that fatal four way match.

 

Angle v. Booker would make more sense if there was a title involved there, probably the US title.

 

Eddy v. Rey I'm all about in a rematch. With the face/heel roles defined more there, it should be good, and most certainly an improvement over Mania.

 

Show v. Carlito, whats that crap?

 

I would bet MNM v. maybe a returning Dudleys, London v. Chavo, something with the Diva chicks, and maybe a match with Heidenreich v. Morgan?

As much of a shitfest it would be, I'd rather see Akebono v. Show in a worked wrestling match. Just do something like Show chokeslams him and the ring gives way or something.

 

Carlito could then be open to take on Taker, a much more marketable and logical match since didnt Carlito interview Taker at some point and got chokeslammed? Revenge time.....

Why are Angle / Booker feuding?

 

I assume that's arising out of the title tournament, but as of yet there isn't much backstory behind the match. I suppose they'll be building upon it this week?

 

The Carlito / Show match is also a question mark for me.

Carlito/Show is easy enough to make happen. Carlito has him on as a guest on the Cabana, makes fun of him for losing the 4-way in England, and boom, there ya go.

If you would have read my post above, I said they should take the title off Jordan ASAP on either Angle or Booker and make that match for the US title to make it more important.

He's the champ merely because it went with the JBL/Cena storyline and they needed to transition the title off Cena anyways.

 

Undertaker is basically going to be left off tv until they move over another set of hosses for him to play with.

 

I'd figure they'll just drop the US Title to Booker soon and further set up the Dissention in the Cabinet angle.

 

Booker/Angle doesnt need the title stipulation but it wont hurt the match.

 

I'd just go ahead and have 2/3 Falls with Rey Vs Eddy. MNM can cut their "we are the greatest tag in the world" promo, allowing dudleyz to return with that "welcome back" pop that hopefully will continue to fun on fumes for at least a couple months where the dudleyz hammer the point that they are 12+ time tag champions

Haas needs to be traded to Raw to feud with Benjamin - he's completely going nowhere in Smackdown. Ironically, so is 3/4 of the Smackdown roster.

I was completely bored with Eddie/Rey and WM, so I dunno.

 

JBL/Cena was fun, albeit short, but only so due to the crowd wanting Cena to win the belt. The rematch will probably be watchable, and the stipulation is decent.

 

Angle/Booker, I dunno...I don't see a point.

Did they really have to take the belt off Cena actually? That didnt serve to help anyone, it made Cena looks kind of chumpish (even though he clearly got his return job back last week) in the Mania build, and it really didnt help Jordan at all either, as he hasnt had one good match since the reign, nor a feud to draw from. I thought they were going to at least consider Jordan v. Booker at Mania at least, and they didnt even do that. They would have been better off with Cena keeping the US title and just vacating it post-Mania. THEN if you want to give the title to Jordan, fine - it just seemed so weak and secondary how he got the belt in the first place. Plus, like I said, the guy doesnt even deserve a title now, he's borderline snoozer material.

 

Angle v. Booker seeds have already been planted with Angle and Sharmell having some words week before last on SD.

I think they just wanted another arch to the JBL fucks with Cena aspect of the story and how Cena wasnt cut to be a champion and all.

 

and also prolly didnt want to bother with a tournament or battle royal for the new us champion and figured they'd kill 2 birds with one stone by transitioning the title over and not having to worry about what to do with it.

Who cares? Jordan and UT have this crazy chemistry that allows their TV matches to be way better then they have any right to be.

I kinda like OJ, not the greatest worker, but he's entertaining.

 

I could see a 6 man tag with OJ and the Bashams, so they can continue the story of breaking them up. Maybe against Haas, Holly and Heidenreich (he needs friends).

 

I think Cena-JBL will be much better at JD, because they will have more time, and they will have a no DQ stip, which will allow them to brawl outside the ring.

 

Angle-Booker is likely just there to give Angle a clean win heading into GAB, where I assume he's getting a title shot against Cena.

 

Rey-Eddie should be good, hopefully not the end of their program (I think this should be the US title program).

 

MNM can face the Dudleys.

 

London-Chavo alos works.

 

Show-Carlito I'm not so sure about.

 

Seems like a decent enough card though.

There is really no better way to stick it to HHH then to support the SD PPVs and make him look bad when his shows get huge company push and the SD PPV is just thrown out there and gets pretty much the same buyrate.

What happens to JBL after losing to Cena in an I QUIT match? They could kill off his whole character in a month after building it for a year if they're not careful, and that would be a damn shame, because he's probably the best character on the show right now (certainly on the heel side).

Make the Old Championship his Million Dollar Championship and have him act like he is still the Champ or have him and Cena trade the title a few times. What I would love to see at SummerSlam would be a (face) Eddie vs JBL for the "WWE" Championship and Cena vs Christain in the SD main event. Although I would want X to walk out the champ, it seems as if Hassan might be doing that.

Is it just me or does that look like the most boring card ever. There's basically one intriguing match (Eddie/Rey) on the whole card. Obviously, it's not full yet, but unless they get the draft done in time to move someone over, I don't see it getting much better.
