Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 he's kind of playing the fence then...I keep hearing that sports games fans love the XBox more because of Live as well as the fact that the graphics ad features seem a bit more improved whereas the RPG fans love the PS2...I guess if he didn't care about Live or slight technical improvements, he needs to get on out there and scoop up that PS2... Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 Sports games ARE better on the X-Box, but the point is he can still get them on the PS2 and the relatively small differences between the two systems with regards to sports doesn't make up for the complete elimination of his other genre on the X-Box. If it was only sports that he wanted, then I would recommend the X-Box. But that isn't the case. If RPGs are going to be something that you play a lot of, then you have to get the PS2. It is the only option. I'm not some PS2 fanboy, I am merely speaking from experience, because I am also primarily a sports/RPG player, that the PS2 will have more games that he wants. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 PS2 has all of those platform games with the hero being some kind of animal. But the Ratchet and Clank series kicks insane amounts of ass. -=Mike Seconded. It's about the only 3d platform game/series I like as much as Mario 64. The Jaks are insanely overrated, IMO. Sly's good but a bit too old school and limited.
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 Thanks for the tips, everyone. I picked up an XBox today, along with MVP 2005 and Fable.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Good choice, Mik. Also, not sure if this makes a whole lot of difference to you, but the DVD/CD player on the Xbox is a hell of a lot better than the ones in other game systems. A perfectly fine, clean DVD of mine would not play on my PS2, whereas I had this old Metallica CD that was scratched to hell and it played perfectly fine. Also heard stories of a friend of mine whose Xbox was able to play a CD that was CRACKED, like literally partially snapped, and it still played it! Can't fuck with da `box. The XB I had before did that too--a demo disc that was snapped in half, literally hanging on only by the label, and it played it. However, there are three different drives that have been used in the XB, and they are not of equal performance. Incidentally, are the 2006 baseball games out yet? Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Andrew, we've dedicated two threads to 2006 Baseball, ya goon! Good choice, Mik, like I said, I traded my PS2 for the Box and haven't looked back since...
Guest Jack Daniels Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Going a bit off topic, does anyone know if the new slim PStwos aren't as screwed up as some of the original PS2s in terms of DRE ( Disc Read Error). This was one of the major problems Sony had dealing with and gained the reputation of crappy hardware.
