Nintendogs (DS) gets a perfect score from Famitsu!

Recommended Posts

This was such shocking news I thought I could start a thread just about it. I believe only four other games in history have received a perfect score from Famitsu, and this magazine gose back all the way to the original Famicom in Japan. A handheld has never received a perfect score, until now.

I thought this game looked pretty interesting, but now I just might be sold. On a side note, I picked up Pac-Pix today. I've only played it for a few minutes, but so far I'm very glad I bought it. The game is exacly how I thought it would be, and that's a good thing.

Sincerely,

Wow. I believe the only other games to get a perfect score were Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Soul Calibur, and Vagrant Story. I guess Miyamoto still has it.

EDIT - I guess I was right about the other games that got the perfect score, I swear I didn't read that article first.

I have heard alot of Nintendogs, and how it's a nifty little game. I thought it would not be THAT good, since it's like, a virtual pet, but this perfect score may change my opinion. I gotta try it, see if this game TRULY deserves those scores.

Is Miyamoto involved in this?

It could be just in a supervisor role, though. I have faith in him 98% of the time, but even he makes mistakes (Yoshi's Story).

From what I understand, it's not as much a game as it is a virtual pet/simulator game, something that Japan's going to like more than the US in general. However, Nintendo Power says the dogs can play sports with each other and show screenshots of one of the dogs apparently hitting a soccer ball with his head.

They'll probably have to expand the # of sports for the US version, but who wouldn't be sold by a puppy doing a MONSTER JAM?

My girlfriend can't wait for this game, so I'm sure I'll be see alot of it when it comes out. I read in I think Nintendo Power that they're going to sell in Japan different versions of the game, each comes with different breeds of dogs, and you can unlock other dogs in your game by linking with someone who has different breeds. That sounds too Pokemonish for me, but they didn't say if it would be released the same in the U.S. Hopefully the US release is just one cart with all the dogs.

Smues--yeah, I read that too. There are 3 different breeds but NP didn't say which ones (so I didn't mention that). Details aren't confirmed for the US, but I say more sports, more breeds, and may as well make some pink DSes :).

Oh, and you can play the sports games against other players via wireless play.

BTW, for Yoshi's Story...

It's likewise also wrongful to expect every successive game that appears from under master designer Shigeru Miyamoto's wing to be even more impressive than the last (especially since he left this one to his right-hand man, Takashi Tezuka, to act as the main producer
-- Gamespot, which is surprising, since Gamefan mentioned over and over again how Miyamoto was involved in it, but that was a preview version...

It's still a virtual pet game. If you have had no interest for the previous virtual pet games, there's nothing in this one that's going to turn you into a virtual pet maniac.

And yes, a perfect score from Famitsu isn't a common occurance, but it's also not far from the norm. They're a blowjob magazine that is only relevant in the States just because they get to play games before anyone here can.

*shells out the cash for a DS and Nintendogs doing a Monster Jam*

I know it's sorta like the old Catz and Dogz games for PC. What are the various breeds you can choose from? I hope Beagle is an option.

There are apparently 3 different versions:

The DS game is set to come in 3 different versions.

Nintendo announced their plans to bring their title NintenDogs in 3 differing iterations. In total, the 3 games will feature 5 dogs each, for a title of 15. Those who purchase only one of the 3 titles will still be able to get every race of dog through the DS wireless multiplayer.

Dachs & Friends

- Schnauzer Miniature

- Yorkshire Burrow

- Dachshund Miniature

- German Shepherd

- Pug

Chihuahua & Friends

- Rider King Charles Spaniel

- Chihuahua

- Shih Tzu

- Labrador Retriever

- Beagle

Shiba & Friends

- The Shetland Sheepdog

- Pinscher Miniature

- Shiba

- Welsh Corgie Puppy

- Toy Poodle

I'd definitley get Chihuahua % Friends for all of them except the Charles Spaniel. Shih Tzu's are hilarious.

I'm absolutely certain I saw a mahjong game listed in the PSP's lineup. The DS will probably have one as well, though. There's always a mahjong title.

No. This information has been out since Tuesday, and even includes what looks to be a scan alhthough the review table doesn't match what they regularly use. Some more cynical than myself have already called it a Photoshop.

But if this news has been been around since early this week, and Famitsu doesn't appear until Friday... See, it doesn't make any sense.
