Piper to do WWE house shows...

Recommended Posts

Looks like the WWE have confirmed Piper's return via WWE.com.

It says that he'll be acompanying HBK to the ring to face Hassan at House Shows.

The shows are in Portland and Victoria, BC, so it makes sense. I wonder if these are just one time deals, or if Piper's going to be back on TV before too long.

Yay, his 100th return to pro wrestling since retiring in 1988 (or whenever it was, I can't remember anymore). Why would they even bother bringing him back? He was just on Smackdown like, two years ago.

Piper signed one of those 5 year legend contracts. These are for merchandising, involvement with WWE 24/7, etc.

I'll admit that Piper's run on SmackDown in 2003 was entertaining. If they brought him back in a manager role but without stepping in the ring and didn't bring back the Pit he would be very useful IMO. he almost made Sean O'Haire a star before Piper was fired and than gave up on O'Haire.

Piper's ace, he's like Scott Steiner, in that you listen to their live promos to see what stupid thing they're gonna say next and how they're gonna devaite from the script, just a total legend!!

I think this is how they should use the old guys (Foley, Hogan, Piper, Austin, etc).

All those guys have name value, but they shouldn't be on TV on a regular basis because they take the spotlight away from the stars and they rarely do any long term good.

I think it would be cool if they could advertise a house show in a major market with an appearance by a Hogan (I know I know he'd never do that), but more realistically a Foley or Austin. That might actually boost some ticket sales, and it might get people back to the live events.
