BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2005 I'm pretty sure he's the dude in charge of the site. And the site is active, or at least the main page is, because there have been a lot of pictures put on it recently. There used to be year-by-year ring results, but they are gone for now. I would assume they will be back up at some point in the near future.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2005 Yes, the site is going through a major overhaul. The ring results (the most complete WCW results on the 'net) will be back soon, I'm adding more to them and making the page layouts more pleasing. Edit: Dead e-mail? Huh? BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 I don't know if this will help you at all, but I just found an old WCW magazine with a list of upcoming events from December 1993/January 1994. I just thought I might be able to help you out.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 I found this on Google's RSPW archives. This is from 1992: Little Cactii Jon sent this to me for posting (I may edit parts of it): Results and info regarding the most recent TV tapings at Center Stage (filmed on Monday May 11) Tv Taping for May 23- Guest host was former Raider All-Pro Dave Casper. Diamond Dallas came out and showed the first installment of his Down With DDP segment. He featured an interview with Paul E. as well as showing footage of Madusa yelling at someone (Steamboat?) calling him a two-timer. Paul said that this video would have repercussions and seemed concerned, then went into an anti-Steamboat rant. Steamboat then came out from up top to be met by Arn,Bobby, and Larry. Ricky pointed out that the odds were 3 to 1 (fair by us) and turned to leave. He then turned and ran back, catapulting into the ring off a trampoline Missy had out for her intro. Windham, Duh-ustin, and Nikita came out to take care of the wrestlers while Steamboat proceeded to tear off Paul's pants (shades of Pat Patterson!). The 2/3 falls match for this taping was Windham/Rhodes/Koloff vs Larry/Bobby/Arn. The first fall had Steamboat pinning Larry. The DA won the second fall by DQ when that son of a cheater Dustin used Paul's phone on Bobby Eaton. The final fall had Nikita pinning Arn after sickling him when Larry avoided it. After the match, Paul E. told Larry that he was fired and told the audience "You want him, you can have him!" TV Taping for May 30- Guest host was Riki Rachtman (sp?) of MTV's Headbanger's Ball. Arn Anderson came out and stated that while he had always been a team player, he felt it was time to do something for Arn Anderson and would be challenging Stink for his belt. The 2/3 falls match was Muta vs Brad Armstrong, with two long falls of good work both going to Muta. The first was won by a cradle (I believe), the second by moonsault. The audience alternated between chants of USA and Muta, but Muta seemed to overall be well over and by the end received a solid response. Both showed sportsmanship afterwards. TV taping for June 6- Guest host was Paul E, who stated that he was back in his rightful place with the show that was supposed to be his (is this what they're doing with Paul now that they appear to be splintering the DA?). Missy intro'd in her librarian look and Madusa was brought out as the interview. The two got into a shouting match and Madusa stripped down to a skimpy outfit. Missy then began stripping her clothes off and Doug "Dick" Dillinger carried her off right as she was going for her top. The 2/3 match was not filmed but will be Barry Windham vs Arn Anderson. Other filmed matches included: Lightning Kid (WCW debut) vs Bob Cook- Kid came in to little fanfare, but left with a big time pop. Incredible. His finishing move was a flying headbutt. We found it interesting that he is being brought in as a face. When he first came out, he didn't get a big crowd reaction (perhaps some fans remembered him as a heel in the GWF). Jon and I were probably the only 2 people clapping for him. He nodded our way to acknowledge us. We were happy... He did 2 great outside the ring moves. One was on over the top rope (is that what a plancha dive is?) dive. The other was from the top turnbuckle. He started out facing Cook, but he ended up giving him a sort of backward cross body block (i.e. he hit him cross-ways, but with his back). Anyone know what this one is called (if anything)? Steiners vs Tracy Smothers/Ricky Morton- Steiners win (Scott/Tracy) with top rope bulldog (no Frankensteiner, but there was an earlier tilt-a-whirl). Ron Simmons vs Taylor Made Man- Big pop for Ron. Valentine shows up during match. Taylor tries to whip Ron into Greg, Ron reverses it, Greg/Terry hit and Greg falls. Ron rolls up Terry from behind for pin. Joey Maggs/Terry Bronson vs Steve Williams/Terry Gordy- Crowd reacted favorably to Williams/Bam Bam, though it's obvious they weren't supposed to. Williams won over Bronson with powerslam. Handicap match- Larry Santo/Steve Richards vs the Super Invader (WCW debut)- the Invader is a big man who appeared to be pretty agile. We spent the match trying to guess who he was, but didn't have long since it was obviously a squash. After the show, we asked Scott Hudson and Steven Detruth who it was and found out that this big (though not muscular) wrestler was Hercules Hernandez. He was announced as being from Taiwan and will be using yet another Oriental gimmick. He was quite flabby (definitely not 'roiding) but was fairly agile. These 5 matches may appear on any of the above shows, as they weren't taped live with any of the guest commentators. Also announced was most of the next Omni card, including a 20 man over the top battle royal, with ensuing Battle Bowl rules (8th man eliminated wrestles 9th man eliminated, 10th man eliminated wrestles 11th man, etc.) Also, Rude vs Steamboat, with DQ rule waived (Rude can lose belt on DQ) and Stink vs Steve Austin for the belt (Yawn). I had no idea Sean Waltman worked any WCW shows in 1992.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 From the taping before that, 4/27/92: Went to the Center Stage tapings last night and actually some interesting goings-on. First TV taping was for air 5/9/92 and featured co-host Randy Owen of the group Alabama. Short interview with Rick Rude (who brought in Madusa (or "Ducie" as he called her)). Owen asked Rude why he left the WWF. Rude gave the standard company line that he had held the Intercontinental Belt and never got a serious heavyweight title shot, was being held back by the WWF, and had moved on to bigger and better things. Missy was then brought out to take questions from a couple of female audience plants and it degenerated into these plants implying that they had also had affairs with Ricky Steamboat, calling each other names ("slut"), and then our buddy Doug Dillinger carrying off one of the screaming females over his shoulder and out of the theater. Rude then apologized to Mrs. Steamboat. It was very hard to hear exactly what was going on because the mikes continued to cut out as they have at every WCW Saturday Night that's been filmed. Still, this seemed sort of strange and shouldn't be missed when it's shown. Kudos to Rick Duggan for screaming that he believed one of the plants when Ross said that no one would believe she had had a tryst with Ricky (though when he first screamed out, we thought he was going to say that he also had had an affair with Steamboat. As Paul E. once said at another TV taping, "Wrong federation, jackass") The 2/3 match was a re-match between Steve Austin and Barry Windham. As soon as I heard what the match was to be, I figured Barry would take the strap. Sure enough, there's a new TV champion, with Barry winning the first and third falls to win the belt (though after the third fall, Austin stun-gunned Barry and left the ring with the belt.) Barry unintentionally (I think) juiced during the match as it appeared he split his lip open. Second TV taping was for airdate 5/16/92 and will apparently feature Brian Pillman as co-host, though we only knew this from his providing commentary during the feature match. I think they filmed a short segment with Teddy Long for during this show and filmed Z-Man entering the room for an interview but not actually doing the interview. Odd. The 2/3 match was between Johnny "I'm a Whiiite Man" B. Badd and Scotty Anthony Flamingo, accompanied by the "most excellent guitar player"(sic) J.T. Southern. We guessed that Scotty would win this to generate heat and were once again correct. First fall went to Flamingo with use of tights. Badd protested, we thought the ref had said no decision and that they were wrestling on when the bell was rung. Ok, so maybe Scotty won that fall after all. Badd won second fall with sunset flip. Third fall wnt to Scotty after Southern hit the ringpost with his guitar and Badd sold it as a shot to the head with Scotty then getting the pin. Z-Man then came in to show the ref what happened and Southern and Scotty jumped him. Pillman then came in for the save. Afterwards, Pillman and Zenk had a "heated discussion" during Ross' interview with them, with (I think, once again the mikes kept cutting out) Pillman saying he was tired of always having to save Zenk and Zenk saying that Pillman's helping out wasn't necessary. Zenk then challenged Pillman to have a go right then and the show ended with the two climbing in the ring to go at it (though nothing actually happened). Next TV taping on May 11, with one match to feature Nikita,Dustin, and Barry vs. Arn,Bobby Eaton, and Larry Z. Since this show will air after Wrestlewar, this might be where Larry is officially expelled from the Dangerous Alliance. One highlight on leaving was Steven Detruth yelling obnoxious stuff at Rhubarb Jones.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 I found this from Herb Kunze's TidBits from 4/16/92, making reference to "the Omni's WCW card on Saturday", which I guess would have been 4/11: - Sting over Van Vader (believe it or not, these guys are supposed to be having some pretty good matches) - Brian Pillman drew with Johnny B. Badd - Steve Austin retained his TV title against Barry Windham - Ricky Steamboat beat Rick Rude in a non-title match - Terry Taylor & Greg Valentine beat Marcus Bagwell & Tom Zenk
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 4/12/92 Atlanta, I guess at the Omni: This card was basically just a modified version of the card from 4/4 (in Philly, I think). I'll be brief with the match results...I really didn't watch the first four matches at all. BTW, it was an almost *all-face* night. Zenk vs. Valentine - Zenk wins (told you I'd be brief :-). Koloff vs. Diamond Dallas Page - same script as before including Koloff hitting the ringpost. Marcus Alexander Bagwell vs. Richard Morton - not much of a match, Bagwell gets the pin. Ron Simmons vs. Cactus Jack - several of us yelled "SPIT" before the match but Jack either didn't hear us or wouldn't do it. After he gets pinned, we try again. Ahh, success. He hocks a big one in the air. Unfortunately, it starts to come down close to the ringpost. But Jack makes the save anyway. We were happy. Bunkhouse with Windham and JYD vs. Austin and Zybysko - similar to before. Zybysko gets taped to the corner. After lots of board-busting and homerun hitting, JYD and Windham win it. It was fun while it lasted, but I think it was only about 6 minutes long. Steamboat vs. Rick Rude - lots of interference by Madusa, but she also kept distracting the ref while *Rude* was getting pummeled (quite odd). Steamboat DQ'd for using the title belt on Rude. Steiners vs. Anderson and Eaton - pretty good action here. It got a little out of hand and the DA was DQ'd for a reason which escapes me at the moment. Sting vs. Van Vader - This one was quite interesting and had a very odd ending. After seeing it, I came home to read the other match report, and this one did not end like it at all. Toward the end, Sting was in the corner up on the turnbuckles and Vader came in and threw him across the ring. Vader went over to him and kicked him in the face. At that point, the ref pushed Vader back to the ropes (for no apparent reason). Sting was not moving at all. The ref was talking to Sting and Vader was back in the corner. Finally, the ref went over to Vader, who grabbed the ref and threw him down. But he didn't attack Sting. He just sort of paced around the ring for a while. Of course, he was DQ'd for hitting the official. He stayed around, then another official came running out of the back. I thought it was staged and that Vader was going to jump Sting, but both refs huddled over Sting (who still had not moved). Vader and Race (who had been at ringside) finally left, and several officials came out to help Sting out of the ring. I still thought it might have been staged, but he really limped back to the dressing room. No arm-raising, no Stinger cheer (does that have a name?), not much at all. I think he may have hurt himself there. It really seemed odd, because the match hadn't been going on for that long, and there was no apparent reason for the ref to move Vader back when he did. Shoot kept going through my mind, but then Vader tossed the official for the DQ.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Hammond, Indiana Civic Center 1/11/92 If it weren't that the Hammond Civic Center is the finest area in all of Chicagoland for ring sports, I probably wouldn't have gone. If you see a card (any federation, or boxing for that matter) advertized for the Hammond Civic Center, GO. The place has GREAT sight lines, free parking, and it takes about the same amount of time to get there from Downtown Chicago as it does to the Dreaded Horizon. (Tip: Best seats are front few rows of the balcony, which is very close to the ring.) The crowd was, as usual, much more downhome than at the beer-less UIC Pavilion or the dreaded Rosemont Horizon - lots of working people with their entire extended family (wife, kids, grandma, some neighbor kids...). WCW brought the whole show to Hammond, presumably because they had everyone in town for Sunday's major show at the UIC Pavilion anyway. It was one of the better house shows I've seen in a long time, especially considering the cozy surroundings at HCC. The place was not sold out, but was at least 3/4 full. To start things off, they wanted to see if the youngsters and other species of marks had noticed Terrence (now Terry) Taylor's face turn. Most - but not all - of them had, but it was fun watching the puzzlement of those who hadn't caught on. Despite the face turn, Terry Taylor nevertheless cheated to win, (thereby further baffling some of the kids) by grabbing the top rope for leverage in holding Richard Morton down for a pinfall. A slow, dull match - should've been better, between these two. * Larry Zybisco gave Johnny B. Badd an eye-opening ball-buster on the top rope and pinned him for an exciting finish to a slow-starting match, featuring Zybisco's trademark complaints about everything imaginable. ** P. N. News had the belly to give T. J. Aryan (an unknown local heel Designated Victim who subbed for Stunning Steve Austin) a very big belly-to-belly suplex. Several good examples of "The Most Dangerous Move In Professional Wrestling" - the dreaded Move Out Of The Way. When Aryan moved out of the way of the corner, and News' 403 1/2 pounds hit the turnbuckles unshielded by his intended victim, he was devastated, although one worried more for the health of the ringpost. Or the whole ring. * 1/2 El Gigante vs. Big Van Vader was a loss. Two huge lummoxes, lummoxing around in the ring, until Harley Race interfered, and there was a double count out. At least it was mercifully brief. Where do they get these duds? Can't they send them back? Why does Vader look like his head is held together with ineptly-applied black plastic electrician's tape? 1/2 Steiner Bros. vs Diamond Exchange worked up a good match, although DDP and Sgt. Parker showed the bad effects of inadequate tag-team cooperation. Perhaps this was simply the Steiners' offensive domination taking its toll. *** Big Josh vs. Abdullah da Butcher (subbing for Mr. Hughes, thankfully) was alone worth the price of admission. Abdullah pulled more foreign objects out of his folds of fat than there are nations for them to come from, causing Josh to completely lose his professional cool and swing his axe handle at anything convenient, such as the announcer's table, which left a gaping hole in the table. Once the ref subdued Josh, things returned to a more normal pace of Abdullah finding yet another foreign object and hitting Josh in the eye with it, finding still another foreign object, and so on. Abdullah stunned everyone by pinning Josh CLEANLY AND FAIRLY (!) for the win, and then the fight continued, with Josh hitting Abdullah with the announcer's table, a variety of those ubiquitous ringside folding Steel Chairs, etc., as they worked their way back into the dressing room, concluding with a couple of swings at each other with a dressing room garbage barrel in the hallway. THIS was pro wrestling at its finest! More matches like this, and more weasel suit matches, and the crowds would return to house shows! **** The main event was a 6-man tag between Sting, Dustin Rhodes, Steamboat, and Rude, Beautiful Bobby, Arn Anderson. A decent, snappy match, surprisingly orderly for a 6-man. Da Dragon impressed early with good work, but then didn't tag, stayed in too long, and had to be rescued by Rhodes. Rude and Sting both hung back - saving their strength for Sunday in Chicago. Anderson and Bobby did the most work on the heel side. Sting came off the top rope to pin Beautiful Bobby to end the match. ** 1/2 The crowd went home satisfied - it had been a good, fast-paced, old-fashioned evening of rasslin', free of the glare of TV lights or excessive hype, in this working-class suburb's jewel of an arena. BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 1/1/92 Omni show: Match 1- Richard Morton and Thomas Rich (no Miss York) vs Big Josh and Terrence Taylor- TT got good heat. Taylor pins Rich with five arm at 9:48. During match, RM and TR offer TT a chance to beat on Josh, but TT instead knocks down these two. After match, TT refuses to shake Josh's hand. Match 2- Diamond Dallas Page vs Brad Anderson- Page at 7:49. Match 3- Young Pistols vs Patriots- Tracy pins Champion at 14:58. Match 4- Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker vs Johnny B. Badd- Badd with left at 12:09. Match 5- Mister Hughes and Van Vader (with Harley Race) vs Steiner Bros- Rick pins Hughes at 14:09 after leaping from top rope and bulldogging Hughes who had back turned to Rick. Match 6-Larry Zybysko (with Madusa (tux outfit)) vs El Gigante- 7'7" wins at 4:28 with claw. World Tag Title Match- Dustin Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat vs Bobby Eaton and Arn Anderson (with Paul E.)- Barry Windham was aalso at ringside- Steamboat gets the pin over Bobby at 20+ minutes. Steve Austin then did a run-in and Barry got two gourdbusters from Arn before order restored. Rick Rude (with Paul E.) and Cactus Jack vs Sting and Ron Simmons- Cactus was escorted by Abdullah, who is sent back when Jack "explains" that RR is his partner tonight. Match ends when Abdullah comes back and, trying to hit the Stinker, KOs Jack with the kendo stick. Sting then puts the scorpion on Jack for the victory. Cactus and Jack then get into a shoving match. Not an outstanding card by any means, this wasn't (IMHO) worth the six bucks I paid ($3 to park, $3 to get in), especially in comparison to the Xmas night card. BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Here are the results of the WCW T.V. Taping for Sept 29 from the Columbus Municipal Auditorium in Columbus, GA Mando Phli def Chris Allen, I think Mando is the Warlord but he was much smaller but the gimmick is the same Diamond Dallas Page and MA Bagwell wrestled to a 10 minute time limit. After the match Vinnie Vegas came and demanded a rematch!! Interview with Scott Steiner Steiner said that Rick wasn't there because he was injured then Stunning Steve Austin and Flyin Brian came and demanded that Scott find a partner. The Barbarian and Jake Roberts def Ron Simmons and Nikita Koloff when Roberts DDT'd Koloff on the steel chair that cactus threw in the ring!! Z-Man def Sgt Buddy Lee Parker Shane Douglas def George South Flyin Brian and Stunning Steve Austin def Scott Steiner and MA Bagwell. The big news in this story is Scott Steiner TURNED ON BAGWELL!! Here is how it happen: While Scott was being beaten up by Pillman and Austin, Anderson came down and ATTACKED BAGWELL BUT SCOTT didn't see it!!! When Bagwell was down Scott wanted to tag but Bagwell was on the floor!! When Bagwell finally got up...Scott POWERSLAMMED BAGWELL AND LEFT HIM BY HIMSELF!! Then Austin delivered the Stun Gun!! interview with Scott Steiner Ventura showed Steiner the replay and he saw Anderson attack Bagwell but Scott didn't apologize or anything. HE STARTED DEMANDED A TITLE SHOT WITH Ricky Steamboat's T.V. Title!!! Then Ventura announced that Steamboat would face Steiner next week (but it really happen an hour later..) Interview with Dustin and Barry about the UNIFIED TAG TEAM TITLE then Pillman and Austin came again and demanded a title shot.. Dustin started saying that he didn't like Pillman's new attitude (it was very stale) Barry was annoyed with Dustin and said, "Who said we'd give them a title shot!!" I think Windham with turn heel again!!!! Barry Windham def The Barbarian by DQ after Cactus Jack came in!! After the match The Barbarian and Cactus Jack double teamed Windham. At first Z- Man and Brad Armstrong tried to save Windham but we're beaten up to then RON SIMMONS FINALLY SAVED WINDHAM BUT DUSTIN RHODES DIDN'T COME OUT AT ALL!!!!!! Brad Armstrong def John Peterson Stunning Steve Austin and Flyin Brian def Tommy Angel and Chris Sullivan Eric Watts def Mark Hickory After the match Tony Schiavone came and they talked about being new and Watts said that he got help from other wrestlers. I don't think anyone in the crowd paid any attention to him..it was funny!!! The Barbarian def Jumpin Joey Maggs Scott Steiner vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat WE HAVE A NEW T.V. CHAMPION!!! Scott Steiner pinned Steamboat with a small package. Funny thing, Scott Steiner didn't even act like a heel. he was slapping hands of the fans before and after the match!!! So I don't know if Scott is a heel because he sure didn't act like one after turning on Bagwell!!! Return Match MA Bagwell pinned Diamond Dallas Page After the match Vinnie Vegas and Diamond Dallas doubled teamed Bagwell. Bagwell had a bad night!!!! Ron Simmons, Barry Windham, Dustin Rhodes def Rick Rude, Jake Roberts, and Cactus Jack after Simmons powerslamed Cactus Jack **OVERALL IT WAS A BORING 3 HOURS!!!!!!!! News and tidbits Notable no show: STING!!!!!!!!!! Also: Rick Steiner, Greg Valentine, Dick Slater, and Scotty Flamingo!! The Scott Steiner angle was very confusing!!! I'm not sure if Scott is a heel yet!!!! We'll see in the coming weeks on what will happen
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Philadelphia Civic Center 1/23/93 A 6 match card at the Civic Center, with about 2-4 thousand in attendance. WCW was helped out by their promotion that anyone under 14 with a paying adult got in for $2. I think everyone got their money's worth, even with only 6 matches. 1) The Dream Team vs. Wrecking Crew. More like the Nightmare Team. These faces got beat all around the ring by the Wrecking Crew, who had the fans behind them somewhat. Philly is a harsh town, as this, and following matches will show. Wrecking Crew ended the carnage with Wrecking Ball to Dream Team bum #1, to the cheers of most. Put it this way: My roommate yelled: "Hey Wrecking Crew, finish these guys so we can see the Johnny B. Badd match". Yes, the Dream Team is THAT bad. The one guy couldn't even climb to second rope properly. He fell and the crowd started booing. The one guy gets beat up well though. 2)Barbarian vs. Johnny B. Badd A pretty good match surprisingly. Interesting test of strength where Johnny "confused" Barbarian by repeatedly switching hands. Anyway, Barbarian crotched himself on top rope quite nicely. Anyway, ended when Badd did his sunset flip off top rope, Barbarian kicked out, Badd threw Barbarian into turnbuckle and raced in, only to be met with the Barbarian's boot. Barbarian with the Boot to face for the pin. Again, Barbarian got a good section chanting Woof Woof when he yelled Huss Huss. 3) Too Cold Scorpio vs. Chris Benoit I had high hopes for this match, and they were met. This was a great match that went to a 20 minute draw. Highlights included Chris kicking out of Scorpio's finisher off the top rope [the somersault thing], Scorpio's numerous climbs onto Chris's back for pin [like Crucifix but much better looking]. Benoit also had a few really sweet aerial manuevers. The crowd was split on this one but when they announced the draw. Almost everyone in the crowd stood up and gave them a standing ovation for a great match. Chris played rold of villian by the way.... Intermission 4) Barry Windham vs. Dustin Rhodes in a no DQ rematch Another great match. Barry is one of my personal favorites, and he did not dissappoint. The outside the ring action started as soon as the bell rang, with everything from tables to steel chairs being used. Also, they used the steel side of the chairs, not the padded side. There were lots of nice thuds of steel on flesh in this match. Another highlight: Barry tries to piledrive Dustin on concrete, Dustin reverse, and Barry smacked against concrete hard. The action in the ring was great also, with a surprising number of aerial moves from both Dustin and Barry. After a great match, Barry takes off boot, goes to hit Dustin, but Dustin ducks under and rolls up Barry for the pin. Still a great match. funny note: Dustin starts hitting Barry and staggers him, then rolls his hands like Big Dusty used to; Dustin then pulls onm his jock, THEN hits Barry with the bionic elbow. It was hilarious. Still, there was quite a big reaction for Barry, especially when he beat up Dustin a little bit after the match. 5) Stunning Steve Austin/Brian Pillman vs. Shane Douglass/Rick SteamboaT This match was really good, espoecially since I was sitting in a Stunning Steve cheering section. Put it this way. At one point in the match, Steve chocked Steamboat, looked over at our section, we cheered him, and he put his hands out and smiled to acknowledge our cheers. Lots of nice moves where Steamboat uses Douglass, such as when Pillman is down, Douglass runs at Steamboat and Steamboat press slams Douglass onto Pillman. Still, Douglass outclasses Steamboat in the team. Anyway, match ended when Steamboat got tossed outside, Austin and Pillman throw Douglass into ropes to double team, but Steamboat grabs Pillman leg and Douglass gives Austin the belly to belly. Still, austin recognizing our cheers, plus steamboat getting the crap kicked out of him made it a great match. 6) Cactus Jack/This is Sting vs. Big Van Vader/Paul Orndorff No DQ Philly Streetfight--Come as you are, bring what you want. Vader brings a solid 2x4 with him, [it was about 4-1/2 ft long, and solid, as he hit various ring posts/barriers,etc. with it. So Cactus and Sting come out and Cactus has a thinner piece of wood that is about 7 feet long. They go at it from the start with the wood, with pieces getting broken on people's heads. The best was when Sting broke the thick "vader" board on Vader's shoulder. It hurt from where I was sitting. Other highlights: Cactus was a bloody mess in about 2 minutes, Sting doing his Stinger spalsh on Vader outside ring; Vader moves, Sting hits his hands/ throat against railing HARD. It moved the barrier a foot or so. Again, tables and chairs were used, as well as the ring steps, which Vader hit Cactus Jack with. For any of you who have ever played the WWF video game, it was just like in the game. Sting brings table in ring, sets it up in corner, and throws Ordndorff into it, smashes his head etc. Again though, Sting goes for the Sting spalsh, but Orndorff moves and Sting gets a nice face full of wood. Sting beats Vader over head/shoulder with wood; wood chunk flies 5 feet into stands. vader falls down, fan gives wood back to Sting and yells "Hit him again! Kick his ass!" Quite an incredible match, espcially considering that there is no padding on the floor and the sturdy foreign objects used. I mean, it has to hurt, for example, when Vader hip tossed Jack onto the ring steps, which were upside down. Jack skidded over the steps and fell on the floor. Overall, after an incredible amount of carnage/broken wood/ etc. Harley Race holds up a chair for Orndorff to ram Jack's head into. However, Orndorff gets his head rammed, Jack DDT's Orndorff and pins him. A fantastic match. Overall, a great card. I will continue to go to WCW house shows if they have matches of this quality. I mean, no Rick Rude/Nikita Koloff/Ron Simmons/Ric Flair, and lots of great matches. I mean, if they can get me to like a Johnny B. Badd match, they must be doing something right. BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 This message was posted on 2/9/93, I don't know if you can place when it happened, but there's something very interesting in here: Here's the results of the Center Stage tapings for the next two Saturday night shows that Rick "Bubba Johnson" Duggan and I attended... ================================================ It was somewhat lacklustre, maybe not surprising with the second show to be a night before the big pay-per-view. No special announcements or anything. There were two dark matches. The first had a big blonde guy from Canada named "Big Sky" going against Shanghai Pierce. Big Sky wasn't real impressive, winning with an airplane spin. Lot's of power moves. Saw him getting out of a cab earlier in the day, surely a two way trip? The other dark match was really exciting for me as it debuted one of my favorite wrestlers, "The Tasmaniac". I hope and pray that WCW keeps him as he's a remarkable worker and would further add to their incredible light heavyweight talent. Unfortunately he drew little heat against Joey Maggs. Oh well... Three TV Title matches were held for, I'm guessing, the syndies: Chris Benoit LOST to Johnny B. Badd with one of those "double pin" endings. Badd was ruled to have pulled a shoulder up during Benoit's dragon suplex, while Benoit's shoulders were apperently on the mat? A disappointing ending to an otherwise fine match. Benoit drew a lot of heel heat. Too Cold Scorpio lost to Paul Orndorff in another weird ending. Scorpio slipped while climbing the corner ropes, and Orndorff pinned him. Seemed strange to have him lose on a blown move. A great match of course, with Orndorff going at the crowds' chants of "Paula". But, my two favorite WCW wrestlers are now out of the tournament. Cactus Jack pinned Z-Man after his double armed DDT. Jack took a bump on the floor from a backdrop that made our chairs shake. Saturday Night tapings... Orndorff and Windham are to face Rhodes and a "mystery partner". An interview has Dustin standing next to someone hidden by a blanket... Steamboat and Douglas defeated John Cruz and Fred Avery Vader beat the living hell out of Rick Tames, busting his mouth open, possibly on the first move. He then had Harley Race put face paint on him and proceeded to strap him. The referee reversed the decision as a dq win for Tames (a title shot for Tames next?). Austin faced Bagwell in a 10 minute match in which he would lose if he couldn't pin him. Time limit draw of course and Austin thus "lost". Orndorff and Windham vs. Rhodes and... Cactus Jack as the mystery partner. An entertaining match, Orndorf at one point hip tossed Jack back into the tunnel, Jack coming back out to clear the ring with a shovel, thus dq win for Windham/Orndorff. Unfortunately Jack showed no hostility towards Dustin. And to conclude, Z-Man/ Gunn beat Bob Cook and Ali Aja in a yawner. The second Saturday Night show... Steve Regal/Scorpio/Bagwell defeated Flamingo/Tex and Shanghai in a very good match. All three of the faces looked good (yes, even Bagwell!?) and Flamingo was his usual brilliance best. Regal is sharp and very solid and of course Scorpio is god-like. Sting came out in a fur coat (looking as ridiculous as one might imagine) and talked about putting the scorpion death lock on Vader, etc. Vinnie Vegas pinned Brad Anderson. Anderson looked pretty good early, but it sooned turned to a quick squash. Max Pain Interview Cactus Jack beat my favorite jobber Mustafa Sahib (give this man a push.) Vader pounded Chris Sullivan, the same ending as earlier - face paint, strap, dq reversal. This time, 4 different jobbers were smacked with the strap as they tried to run in (Avery and Maggs really got nailed). Vader interviews. (Obviously Flair isn't to win the title before the event as Vader still holds it...) Max Pain beat Rick's favorite jobber Keith Cole (he of the worse haircut in the business). In the "time stand still" match of the night - The Wrecking Crew (Og and Zog) beat Z-Man and Gunn. Great ending as the former Master Blaster totally flubbed his spot. He was to jump from the top rope corner onto Gunn, as the ref's back was turned, but instead slipped and basically fell sideways onto Gunn's shins. Another inch, and he would have tumbled out of the ring instead. Boy it was funny, shades of Eric Watts... And in a very entertaining and surprising match, Steamboat beat Pillman in a lumberjack match (I tell you, this is Bill Dundee booking...). The face lumberjacks were Regal, Bagwell, Robbie V., Douglas, Scorpio, Keith Cole(?!?) and a somewhat neutral Catus Jack. The heels were Vinnie, Austin, Shanghai, Tex, and Max Pain. An exceptional performance by two true professionals. Watch for Regal and Vegas hooking up on the outside for nice comedy. So, no sign of Ron Simmons, no mention of Bagwell/Watts vs. Pillman and Austin. Mercifully no sign of Eric Watts. Very little of Bill and no sign of Cornette and co. BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Posted 4/19/93, so I guess this show took place on 4/18: The WCW strutted it's stuff yesterday afternoon in Toronto at the SkyDome. I didn't attend but here are the results from this morning's Toronto Star. (directly quoted) Sting won the match but Big Van Vader kept his World Championship Wrestling Belt at the SkyDome yesterday. Sting (they forgot the tm "This Is") won on a disqualification and and titles can only change waists on a submission or pinfall. In other action 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Bagwell beat Tex Slagenzer and Shangai Pierce; Maxx Payne beat Steve Regal; Johnny B. Badd beat Chris Benoit; Van Hammer beat Vinnie Vegas; Ricky Steamboat pinned Flyin' Brian Pillman; Barry Windham retained his NWA crown by pinning Ron Simmons; Dustin Rhodes and Cactus Jack pinned Rick Rude and Paul Orndorff. WCW was running the Skydome?? In 1993?
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Macon, GA 8/10/93: Hello All! Just got back from a WCW card here in Macon, GA, and thought I'd post match results. This is the third time that WCW has been here in the past five months, and they're due back Nov 12th. They will also be in Milledgeville, GA on Oct 10th. This makes me think that they're cutting back to smaller houses. I don't remember the last time they were in Milledgeville, and there are other towns in this area bigger than Milledgeville.... TV was taped for three shows: 2 Main Events (week before and night of Fall Brawl), and a Power Hour (probably also week of Fall Brawl), plus regular house-show stuff. Not seen at this show: Big Van Vader, Sting, the Blondes, Ric Flair come to mind. Anyway, here we go: 1st Main Event taping: Ice Train squash. This guy reminds me kinda of Scott Norton, but this "Choo-Choo" business is stupid. Not very impressive. Won w/ Irish Whip/Powerslam Texicans vs. Erik Watts/Brad Armstrong. Watts wrestled as a face, and showed no indications of making a heel turn. Watts did the job (yay!) with Tex in the STF, Shanghai off the top w/ elbow. ** Charlie Norris squash against probably the Cuban Assassin under a camo mask. Wins w/ the boot. BTW, if you see a guy doing a drugged-out looking war dance behind the ring after the match, that was a friend of mine. I'm two seats over to the right. Cactus Jack interview. Couldn't make out what he was saying through all the screaming, but I would assume it would be about Vader... Dustin Rhodes vs. The Equalizer: Boring. Restholds, moves done not too well. Dustin clothesline Equalizer over top rope, goes with him, both guys keep each other out of ring. DCO. Yawn. *3/4 Sid Vicious vs. Davey Boy Smith. 1/2 of match out on the floor, first five minutes wasted by Parker and Sid complaining about crowd. Finally ends by DQ when Parker grabs Sid's foot as DBS is about to give him the running powerslam. ** (1/2* for out-of-ring tussle) ----End first taping 2nd Main Event Taping: Arn Anderson/Paul Roma squash. Win w/ spinebuster/swan dive Yoshi Kwan interview. Something about Kwan supposed to keep Cactus' pouch. Yoshi Kwan squash. Wins w/ armbar/nerve pinch submission Another Yoshi interview. Dunno what about; mike not on PA... Marcus Bagwell squash, but he got beat up a little in this one, too. (yeah!!!) Rick Rude squash. Tights have picture on backside of Rude beheading Flair and a gravestone saying "RIP Ric Flair" Rick Rude interview. Says Flair is good, but he's better Harlem Heat and Sid Vicious vs. Cole Twins and (?????). I have no idea who the Cole's partner was. He wasn't a jobber, because he got a nice spot in where one of the Heat tried to throat-slam him and he dropkicked him as he was picked up. He wears leopard spots-type short tights. He got some offense in. One of the Coles was the whipping boy, and the Heat and Sid worked his BUTT good. Good hard impact moves. Sid does a kip-up out of a Cole head scissors. He's getting a bit faster. Eventually tags in Mr. ??? and he cleans house for a little before it becomes a free-for-all. Heat and Sid get control, though, and the match ends with Sid powerbombing the crap out of Mr. ??? as one of the Coles is bashed into the rail right in front of me. ***1/4. I didn't think the Coles could have this good a match. 2 Heat/Sid interviews about War Games. One of the house main events. Dustin Rhodes vs. Rick Rude best two out of three falls. This match had been advertised as being for the U.S. title, but I didn't see the belt anywhere near ringside. Rhodes takes two straight falls. First fall won by Rhodes after a cross body block when Rude had missed a clothesline after Rhodes did a little BUTT-movin'. Yawn. Second fall won by Rhodes after Rude throws Rhodes over the top trying to atomic drop him. *1/2. Boy, this sucked... -----End second taping Power Hour taping: Arn comes to the commentator's table. Davey Boy Smith squash. Bobby Eaton does yet another job; this one is for Ice Train. Ice makes Bobby look outright stupid at times, but Bobby doesn't do a squash (thank God). May I take a moment here to say that I think that the WCW booking/hierarchy should be strung up by their private parts for jobbing Bobby Eaton like this? Thank you. Ice Train/Thunderbolt Patterson interview. T-bolt sounds like a preacher (Praise The Lord!!!) Texicans vs. Dustin Rhodes/Charlie Norris. Big Dust comes down to do color and watch his son take a lickin'. Rhodes/Norris in control early, but the Texicans pull a little chicanery to get Rhodes in a bad way. Rhodes is a whipping boy here, he takes some mean licks. Finally gets the hot tag to Norris and Norris cleans house and looks stupid with that dance. Norris boots Shanghai for the pin. **3/4 The Main Event of the evening (ha!): Paul Orndorff/Maxx Payne vs. Ricky Steamboat/Johnny B. (My Prom Date) Badd. Starts out really slow. Finally, Orndorff/Payne get Steamboat in a bad way and Steamboat plays whipping boy (he's good at it). Get three or four close-but-no-cigar-tags. Maxx Payne had some good stuff in this match, nice moves. Eventually, Paul got going with some stuff. Ricky flips out of a Maxx Payne belly-to-back to get a tag. Johnny cleans house, but Maxx and Paul double-team and get an advantage. Maxx whips Johnny in, Johnny goes for a crucifix, but can't get him over. Ricky karate-kicks Payne in that gut of his, Payne goes down and over and Badd get the three-count. Payne (and later Orndorff) saved this one from being a bad match. ***. It's kinda scary that the Coles were in the best match of the night. The quality of the work tonight was disappointing. I was hoping that Rhodes-Rude would be a good match, but it was worse than the 30-minute snoozathon at Beach Blast. Hopefully things will be better next time? BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Salina, Kansas 10/15/93 On Friday Oct 15 the WCW was in Salina here are the results. ratings out of 4 stars Match 1 Wild Thing Stevie Rea vs. Big Sky, now from Saskatoon not Montana, anyway the match was a snoozer and lasted only 7 minutes Big Sky with a big boot no stars match 2 Ron Simmons vs the Equalizer, another yawner that lasted only 7 minutes....Simmons with a small package * star match 3 Paul Orndorff vs Eric Watts, Orndorff works his ass off and Watts shows new and better wrestling skills along with a better work rate. The match lasted 15 minutes with Orndorff winning with the international object to Watts face 2 ** Match 4 the Nasty Boys vs Scorpio and Bagwell, the match was o.k. with Scorpio doing very little, Bagwell hits Nobbs with a dropkick off the top rope and gets a 2 count that would've been 3 if the time had not run out....tim limit draw 2 ** Match 5 Rick Rude vs This is Sting, Rude comes out and insults the crowd kissed the Gold Belt, Sting comes out to a huge pop tells the crowd they are cool and then says that Rude is an Asshole and "if you have anything between your legs, you would put the belt on the line." Rude refuses and jumps Sting they battles for a good 30 minutes exchanging more groin shots then I have ever seen and with the "you ain't shit" comments flying between the wrestlers. Both of these guys worked their butts off with Sting winning with a small package 3 *** as Rude left he picked some little kid and the said the "bad guy" part well Match 6 Sid Vicious vs Ricky Steamboat, this match had it all including both men fighting in the crowd, both men being repeatedly thrown over the railing and then the other going for him, the famous chair was used with Sid hitting Ricky and vice versa, then Ricky hitting Colonel Tom. The match lasted 35 min with Sid doing an amazing power bomb on Steamboat 3 1/2 *** Match 7 the main event get ready now after the last two matches I was stoked anyway here goes for the U.S. title Dustin Rhodes vs Steve Regal with Sir William, a.k.a. Superstar Bill Donedee I don't remember anyone linking them, the match lasted 20 minutes and Dustin juiced. Dustin proved to be able to carry the match and any man that blades before 2500 people in Salina Kansas gets a nod from me. Dustin with the Bulldog 3 *** this match also feature an old man in the front row getting a little upidity and had to be restrained by 3 security gaurds all in all the evening was good it started slow but ended fast and furious kinda makes me want to get Halloween Havoc
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Message posted on 12/12/93, but I don't know when the card took place: From our non-sequitur department, I'll now give the results from this week's WCW Crystal Chandelier show. The only reason I follow up this post is to mention that Shanghai Pierce (yes _that_ Shanghai Pierce) did that very same move this week. Paid attendance: 121. Seen in the audience: Van Hammer. Flash Walker & Craig Pittman beat The Gambler (seen on TV as Jeff Gamble/Gann) & Big Daddy (also called Big Caboose, possibly Ice Train's brother) - DUD Brian Anderson over Z-Man. 1/2* Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Michael Hayes) b. Jim Steel - 1/2* Johnny B. Badd over Tommy Rich by count out - ** Tex Slazenger & Shanghai Pierce DDQ Marcus Alexander Bagwell & 2 Cold Scorpio - **1/4 Next week's card should be the best so far (though that's not saying all that much): Craig Pittman vs. Gambler Brian Anderson vs. Scotty Bradford Z-Man vs. Tommy "Wildfire" Rich Cactus Jack & Maxx Payne vs. Tex Slazenger & Shanghai Pierce 2 Cold Scorpio & Marcus Bagwell vs. Paul Orndorff & Paul Roma Flyin' Brian Pillman vs. Steve Austin So I guess those matches listed at the end were for the 12/14/93 show at Kennesaw. Of course, I could be wrong.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Here's what happened at the taping on 2/1/94 for the Saturday Night shows of 2/12/94 and 2/19/94. WCW also taped on 2/2/94, but you I doubt you could have paid me to see this current booking stupidity two nights in a row. Yes, WCW continues to pay models to sit low and ringside, though they've apparently abandoned the "whites only section" of seating segregation. Just before the start of the proceedings, we were blessed with the presence of Ted Turner and Jane Fonda. TV Taping for 2/12/94 Match 1- Nasty Boys vs Matt Shepard/Scott ?- squash. Nastys actually seemed to work a bit stiffer here (insert Missy Hyatt joke here.) One of them pinned Shepard. Match 2- "Big" Fred Avery vs Jungle Jim Steele- quick squash. I guess they have "Jungle Juice" wherever big Jim comes from. He wins with a botched Thesz press. Wouldn't a series of Equalizer/Steele matches be special! :-) Gene Okerlund interviews Ted and Jane. This is barely audible, and nothing notable is said. (Okerlund gets all interviews tonight, while Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan provide the commentary, FYI.) Steven Regal vs the Patriot- Regal has his leg bandaged. Approximately 40 seconds of a scheduled 10 minute match are wasted at the beginning with no action. Get to see Jane chant "USA". Dundee was drawing as much heat as the match. Del needs some new tights (the stars are starting to come off.) Of course, we get the standard Regal time limit draw (now the 40 seconds is even more important.) Regal continues to impress me , but Mr. Wilkes offers very little at this point. Match 4- Rick Rude (International Heavyweight Belt) vs Johnny B. Badd- Rude's army is heavily bandaged. Badd places his kiss stickers on Ted/Jane. Badd does a fairly nice sideslam reversal into a frankensteiner. Then, the two miss a backslide pretty badly (they have problems hooking the second arm.) Too many rear chinlocks (mostly by Badd.) Badd hits Tutti Fruity, but Rude gets his foot on the ropes. Badd then misses a top rope manoevre and Rude hits the Rude Awakening for the pin. Decent heat. Ted/Jane leave at this point. Match 5- Trevor Rison (with music) vs Keith Cole- Trevor is apparently going to be a new midcard heel. He uses bad chops, and a tilt-a-whirl slam before winning with a leglock submission. This was an awful match with very little heat. Okerlund interviews Ron Simmons. Teddy Long interrupts. Match 6- Erik Watts/Arn Anderson vs Paul Orndorff/Paul Roma- an ok match, but certainly leaning more towards Erik's level than other participants involved. The Pauls win by DQ when Arn tosses Orndorff over the top rope. Match 7- Vader vs jobber- squash. Jobber juices hardway from his lip/nose region. Leon beats on him after the pin. Steamboat comes to try to make the save, but Harley cuts him off and gets some licks in (this made me a little bit happy.) Before Harley/Vader can get in a good double team effort, the Boss makes the save (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) Okerlund sits amongst the models and plugs the hotline. Match 8- Top Gun (from Cuba?) vs Ricky Steamboat- Ricky wins squash with top-rope cross body. Match 9- Rip Rogers (clean shaven) vs the Boss- huge pop for the Boss (why?) who throws bad looking punches before winning a squash with a sideslam. Rogers proves his genius by crawling back to the dressing room. Okerlund interviews Pillman/Dustin. No biggie. Results for 2/19/94 to be posted later. Here's the second part of this report. Results of TV Taping for 2/19/94 Match 1- Jungle Jim Steele vs ?- Boy, does this guy do a bad Ultimate Warrior gimmick. He wrestles with such ability that he makes Jorge Gonzalez look like Liger. The people below me believe that it is Hellwig. Of course, he wins in a squash. Cactus Jack/Maxx Payne interview with Gene Okerlund. Jack is (as usual) great. Maxx talks about destruction, Jack talks about the germs in Missy's mouth. Jack tells the Nastys that they should stop by a convenience store on the way to Super Brawl to stock up on aspirin and band-aids, and to pick up Missy some Scope. Match 2- Larry Santo/Bobby B? vs Nasty Boys- Missy makes Mister Hughes faces as the fans chant "brush your teeth." Nastys in semi-squash, looking less impressive than earlier in the evening (I guess the other squash took something out of them :-) ) Nastys interview with Okerlund. NBD. The Patriot vs Ricky Santana (from Cuba)- Notice how WCW waited til Ted left the building to have its "Cuban" wrestlers appear. Santana showed a moment or two that he might not be that bad, but Del wins with the full-nelson drop. (Notice that back acne on Del.) Match 4- Harlem Heat vs MA Bagwell/2 Cold Scorpio- The Heatsters have new rubber outfits. After a match with a few high spots (courtesy of who you can guess) and a few low spots (again, easily expected), Ron Simmons climbs on the apron to try to interfere. Bagwell then dropkicks Ron to the floor below. Scorpio then does a tope (is that the over the top rope leap?) onto Ron, hitting the restraining railing in the process. Scorpio is counted out, meaning a victory for Harlem Heat. Ron Simmons/Harlem Heat interview. I guess Ole (and booking committee) feel another "we're real brothers" angle is their version of PC. Most of the crowd leave at this point. Vader workout. Leon pounds on 4 jobbers. End of show for 2/19/94. What an abysmal evening of wrestling. "Trevor Rison", huh? cawthon777 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 "Trevor Rison", huh? That was probably just the fan in attendance mishearing. Having gone through my share of archived results on RSPW, I've found that to often be the case when the guy hasn't appeared on TV much and the fans don't know him. Once the site is updated, I'll send over some of my detailed handheld results.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 1992 is back up. Gaze upon the pictures of such greats as Sting, Austin, Rude, Paul E., and...uh...Chono. Yeah. Wonder who that "Steve Richards" is that worked Super Invader during his debut at WCW SN taping. Stevie? And that "Mando Khli" or however it was spelled that "looks like The Warlord"...could this be "Mondo Kleen", who was a big Northeast indy name that went on to be Damian DeMento in the WWF? And for as big as a York Foundation mark as I was, I didn't remember Terrence Taylor going back to "Terry Taylor" briefly before he became Taylor Made Man and being a face? Odd.
