Baptists and Catholics hate each other so much because they both think the other is going to hell.

That's been my experience as well.

 

As a non-Christian, I find these inter-denominational arguments hilarious.

As a Christian, I find these inter-denominational arguments hilarious. I mean, I'll always defend protestantism or whatever in front of ignorant Catholics, and if people that aren't Catholic bash it on false pretenses, I will defend that as well. But the whole idea of thinking that the other will go to hell or are weird is pretty lame.

The big local denominations here are Methodist, Pentecostal, and Baptist. I heard there's a snake church in town, too, but I haven't confirmed this. My town is mostly bars and churches.

I just thought everyone else thought catholics were crazy. I tend to find some things they do a little wierd. But being a little weird is far from going to hell.

I've never met one Catholic in my age range that thought Protestants were going to hell for being non-Catholic.

Maybe they just didn't want to admit it.

I thought they'd believe you'd go to Purgatory, or something.

 

When the issue comes up and I don't know the person, I'll often be vague and play D.A. to whatever they'd say.
