JasonX 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 I've been meaning to ask you guys this but what the hell happened to the Cubs announcing team? What is Bob Brenly doing there in the place of the regular announcing crew?
Guest tpf85 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 They both got fired. Steve Stone is on ESPN now and Carey is on TBS.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Both Chip and Stoney decided to move on after that debacle that was the 2004 season. Several players became more concerned with the duo than the actual games, going as far as to threaten them physically. Chip has moved on to the Braves' announcing crew, while Stoney is doing work with ESPN 2 and some radio stuff. The new crew isn't good, but I don't mind Kasper so much. Still a shame that the old duo was driven out of town like that.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 They both got fired. Steve Stone is on ESPN now and Carey is on TBS. Wrong. Chip took another job and Stoney passed when it came time for his contract renewel.
Mik 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Steve Stone rocks. I also find it funny that he refuses to wear the headphone mic and usually uses a huge mic propped up to his face. Kaspar came from the Marlins. He's ok, but I like our new guy Rich Waltz better.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Kasper is just every play-by-play man. They're all manufactured the same these days, so I don't miss him over Chip. Also, Chip got too excited about the other team hitting a home run and if I wasn't looking at the TV I could easily forget who was batting. Brenly adds nothing to the broadcast, Stone was much better with analysis and calling it like he saw it, which ended up being his demise, as we all know. Brenly is a friend of Dusty Baker's, so that definitely plays a part in how he calls a game. By the way, the Cubs really suck right now.
