I remember someone calling them the Phoenix Suns of the east.
Whoever said that should never see the red light of a camera on their face again, or their writing in the newspaper again. That's really, really dumb.

Allan Houston is also another good trading block next year I believe.

Not really. You see, teams in the NBA don't really want an injury prone guy, and the team that would take a guy with a huge, expiring contract is the one that he's already on.

I had a dream the Knicks traded Stephon Marbury for Eddie Jones and Brian Grant.

Anyway, the Curry trade, it's simple. If he's healthy, it's a steal, because Sweetney yes he can score in the post, but he's not a good defender and gets like 20 fouls a minute. He's not a monster rebounder after teams adjusted to him, and Tim Thomas we all know. Curry isn't a good rebounder, but we need a low post scorer badly. He's also 6'11 285, 22-23 years old, and we have him locked up for the next 6 years.

If Curry delivers the Knicks are going to have a good young team this year. I remember someone calling them the Phoenix Suns of the east. Allan Houston is also another good trading block next year I believe. He has a very large expring contract which would be great for a sign and trade.

There sure are a lot of Knicks apologists on this board. They trade away a promising young talent and future cap savings for a guy with a bad heart (literally and figuratively) and an uninsurable contract, and this is spun as a positive?

If he is healthy and ably to play out the next 5 years, it will be a good move. But does ANYONE see this happening? Isn't it alarming that there was only one GM in the entire league willing to give this guy a contract?

Well Allan Houston with the money he is making would be a good contract to have in the final year if a team is trying to get under the Cap.

I said If and that is a very big IF Curry is able to deliver meaning if he is healthy and puts up numbers that is a good trade for the Knicks. I loved the Michael Sweetney pick in the 2003 draft. He is turned into a pretty decent forward in this league who can put up 10 points and 10 boards on the nightly bases. I am sad to see him go and I know he is going to further improve in this league.

According to InsideHoops, the Knicks' contract year players are Thomas (who was traded), Hardaway, and Ariza.

I think Isiah (if he's still the Knicks GM) is going to go after either Carmelo, LeBron, or Wade, whichever falls most easily into his lap. He probrably figures that not all 3 will re-up with their current teams in the next 2 years and when one of them hits the market, the Knicks will be there to make that person the cornerstone of the Knicks.

I wonder if the Pacers could make a splash that year. Croshere and Bender both come off, which has got to be close to $20 million just between those two.

I cannot see Wade leaving Miami even after Shaq retires. As far as Lebron and Carmelo who the hell would want to play in Cleveland or Denver when they could play in N.Y., L.A., Miami or even in Jordan's shadow in Chicago. Being a knicks fan I could only dream about having Lebron on the team.

Someone from Ohio would want to play in Cleveland, I would imagine. Doesn't mean he will, but that could be attributed to management.

Weren't there rumors about how much Lebron would make in his endorsement contracts if he played for the Knicks or Lakers???

Some guys don't like the pressure of being the local boy. Some guys want to get paid more and play in big cities. If I grew up in central Florida, and was the pride of central Florida, and Stern rigged the draft so I would just happen to end up being drafted by the Orlando Magic, yeah, I'd put in my three years, but if I started getting offers to be a Laker, or a Bull, or a Knick, or a Celtic, of course I'd bolt.

'07's going to be a pretty awesome FA class, at least compared to the two years preceding it. In addition to LeBron/Wade/Carmelo/Bosh, there are quite a few big names that have player options, as well.

This, of course, is assuming they don't all sign extensions like Yao did and supposedly Amare is ready to.

That's the thing. Is it really that common for a top guy to play out the contract and then be a free agent? It seems like everyone gets an extension or re-ups the year when they are restricted. I can't see the Heat, Cavs, Nuggets or Raptors letting these guys go without a major fight.

Hakeem had the same heart problem and played for like 17 years or so.

Like I said, if he's healthy, how is this a bad move? They traded away an undersized PF (oh wait, since we traded him away, he suddenly becomes a promising young talent, my bad), and a guy who is mediocre for a guy who's a better player than both, with more upside, and an expiring contract (same as TT, if they decide not to cut him).

And i've asked for this move. I think Curry will be the real deal.

Does anyone know the 12 NBA contracts that are uninsurable? I remember reading about it at the time the whole Curry thing went down. I know Grant Hill (ankle), Quentin Richardson (back) and Eddy Curry (heart) are three of them? Any guesses on the rest?

I know, I just had to say that.  LeBron will be a Chicago Bull.

Where will we put him? I don't wanna lose Deng or Ben Gordon.

IF the Bulls get Lebron, we would make room for him. But him becoming a Bulls is still a big if, and I don't think he's gonna want to give up being #23 either.

He'd have to be a total douche to not step aside with #23.

Maybe he'll go with #45 then...

Check out John Hollinger's article on why this is a potentially horrendous deal.

That guy really didn't say anything we didn't already know. The difference between Curry and Sweetney is that Curry is a true center, which is the very thing they've been lacking since they traded Ewing away. And let's face it, the Jerome James deal was awful and he alone wasn't the key to getting back to that kind of success.

If they end up hanging onto AD, the trade gets even better because he brings a lot of playoff experience and is still very much capable of a double-double on any given night.

Basketball is not baseball. You can't use stats for everything. If you use statistics, Steve Francis is comparable to Jason Kidd.
