Toshiaki Koala 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 The article is dated January 4, 2005, and the sordid events took place sometime around New Year's Eve. Still, better late than never... By Eugene Mulero Daily Record MORRISTOWN -- A poetry reading that was part of the First Night festivities has generated some controversy after a parent complained a teenager's poem about former President Clinton included inappropriate language about sex. "Outraged is not a strong enough term for what my wife, myself and our 13-year-old daughter and her friends experienced at the Poetry Cafe,"Leo O. McCabe of Morris Township stated in a letter to the Daily Record and sent to the town, Morris Township officials and First Night organizers. "My daughter was to be part of the program. But she and her other 8th grade friends elected to leave, without performing, due to the absolutely pornographic series of 'poems' delivered by individuals." About 40 people were at the first ever Poetry CafeNew Year's Eve in the Morristown High School cafeteria. More than half the audience were teens, according to organizers. Paula Davidoff, the First Night coordinator at the Poetry Cafe, said one poem -- of about 30 read that night -- was the source of concern and it was about the political scandal of President Clinton and former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. "The poem to which the man (McCabe) refers wasn't appropriate for some of the audience, however, it was political and social commentary," Davidoff said. "All of the parents I spoke to after the event understood that the decision to introduce this material at the Poetry Cafewas due to a youthful mistake in judgment and not disregard for public decency." First Night officials declined to identify the youth who read the poem or provide the work in question. The Poetry Cafe was put together by the directors of First Night to generate interest from the county's teenagers in the annual nonalcohol countywide celebration centralized at the Green in Morristown, according to Cindy Zimmerman, First Night's event manager. Davidoff said McCabe caused more of a disturbance than the poem and should have been there for the entire event. "For one thing, this man's daughter did perform; he just wasn't there to hear her,"Davidoff said. "The young people who participated in the event were sober, thoughtful, concerned about the state of the world, and excited about literature." "If these people (McCabe) had come to hear their daughter perform instead of showing up in the middle of the evening and if they had stayed to hear the poems that followed the one to which they objected, they would be in a better position to pass judgment on the performances,"Davidoff added. "Their (McCabe) behavior that evening was much worse than the incident that inspired it." Meanwhile, McCabe insists the poem about Clinton was offensive. "Last I heard, the community knows pornography when it hears it or sees it," wrote McCabe. "If this is part of First Night and Morristown, my family is out of here!" More than 10,000 people, mostly families, and seniors, attended First Night, which featured performances at 23 venues throughout the downtown area. "First Night is a positive event," Zimmerman said. "I don't want this to become an issue." Yes, the teen in question is really me!

Toshiaki Koala 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Oh, who am I to oppose the combined will of three former world champions? Keep in mind, though, that this was written when I was a sprightly thirteen (with minor alterations made over the years), so... yeah. "Bill" This story is about a man named Bill Who had no control over his drill Bill had a beautiful wife named Hill But for a young intern's body he would kill. One day Bill was alone in his room When he smelled the scent of fresh perfume In walked Monica, looking so pretty Suddenly Bill got the urge for some titty. Bill felt the heat when he looked at her thighs But the temperature wasn't the only thing to rise Slowly his penis grew into a wood With stretching slacks, the President stood. He pulled down his trousers and shedded his briefs Ready to show Miss Lewinsky his beef With a twinkle in his eye, ol' Slick Willy said "Get on your knees and give me some head!" Suddenly Hillary opened the door And saw her husband alone with this whore Thinking fast she grabbed a sickle And with one swift motion, sliced off his pickle.
