IWA Mid-South Wrestling, in association with NWA Midwest, returned to the Park District Recreation Center in Midlothian, IL on Friday night, 6/17. Here's what went down...

The show opened with IWA World Heavyweight Champion and NWA Indiana State Champion JIMMY JACOBS taking the microphone and announcing that he did not deem DANNY DANIELS worthy of a title shot, since he was eliminated in the Gauntlet Series in Philadelphia. He was interrupted by ALEX SHELLEY, who reminded Jacobs that he has several victories against him in IWA-MS competition, and wanted the title shot. "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON interrupted their exchange, and confronted Shelley about the derogatory comments he made while Cannon was out with a fractured collarbone. Jacobs proclaimed that none of them were worthy of a title shot, and he would not defend the title at all, until IAN ROTTEN made his way to the ring and told Jacobs the title must be defended. DANNY DANIELS approached the ring and told Shelley and Cannon to settle their issue in a match, as he was scheduled to get the title shot. Ian announced that he would pull himself out of his match against Cannon in order for the match with Shelley to take place, and told Jacobs he would have to defend both of his titles against Daniels.

1. "The Human Rulebook" CHANDLER McCLURE def. the returning MARK WOLF following the Touchdown.

2. "The Iron Saints" VITO & SAL THOMASELLI def. TRIK DAVIS & RYAN BOZ to retain the IWA World Tag Team Titles after a hitting a low blow on Davis while the referee was down.

3. BRAD BRADLEY def. "The Underwear Model" ERIC PRIEST following a lariat.

4. "Spyder" NATE WEBB def. MAREK BRAVE after Soylent Green.

(Note: At about 1 AM last night or so, Marek text messaged me telling me that he "knocked out Nate Webb"). I hear that Marek hit a hurancarana from the top turnbuckle to the outside on Nate, and that a sick thud could be heard when Webb hit the floor. He also apparently took a brutal kick to the head from Marek, so either of them could've knocked him out. A rematch was signed for Hammond (no results on that yet).

NWA Midwest promoter ED CHUMAN made his way to ringside and annoucned that he (and the NWA) had not sanctioned the IWA-MS event in Philadelphia, PA on 6/11, as it did not take place within the NWA Midwest territory, and it was not cleared with Pennsylvania NWA promoter JIM MILLER either. As a result he declared the NWA Midwest/IWA Mid-South Women's Title change invalid. MICKIE KNUCKLES approached the ring to take issue with Chuman's announcement. JIM FANNIN also made his way to the ring, and argued that the only person who was going to push around Mickie would be himself. Fannin layed Mickie out with a clothesline and put the boots to her until IAN ROTTEN made the save. Chuman then stated that he'd give Mickie a chance to keep the title, if she wins her match against RAIN later in the evening.

5. RAIN def. MICKIE KNUCKLES via disqualification when JIM FANNIN entered the ring and tackled Rain in order to get Mickie disqualified. Post match, ED CHUMAN announced that due to Mickie losing the bout, she no longer had claim to the NWA Midwest Women's Title, and the belt will go back to the previous champion MsCHIF. An irate IAN ROTTEN came to ringside and told Chuman that he didn't care what the NWA had to say about it, Mickie won the title fair and square in Philadelphia, and she is recognized as IWA Mid-South Women's Champion, belt or no belt. Rotten officially proclaimed the NWA Midwest and IWA Mid-South Women's Titles are separate entities from this point forward.

6. TYLER BLACK def. DELIRIOUS with a rollup in an upset victory, after Delirious missed Shadows Over Hell.

7. "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON def. ALEX SHELLEY after hitting the Glimmering Warlock (shining enzugiri) in an excellent display of both wrestlers' scientific wrestling expertise.

8. JOSH ABERCROMBIE def. BRANDON THOMASELLI to retain the IWA Light Heavyweight Title after hitting the Taliban Backpack lungblower off the top rope as Brandon was attempting a top rope Air Raid Crash.

9. JIMMY JACOBS def. DANNY DANIELS to retain both the IWA World Heavyweight Title and NWA Indiana State Title after hitting the Contra Code. Daniels pinned Jacobs, presumably to win the title but the referee caught Jacobs' foot on the bottom rope and restarted the match. Jacobs quickly hit a low blow, followed by the Contra Code, to score the pinfall. After the match, JERRY LYNN confronted Jacobs about his tactics, and told him to have some respect for the belt. Jacobs insulted Lynn in response. IAN ROTTEN then granted Lynn's request for a match against Jacobs in the future, which will have Daniels as the special referee.

10. JERRY LYNN def. CM PUNK in the main event of the evening with the cradle piledriver. Lynn focused on Punk's neck for the duration of the match, while Punk worked over the abdominal region of Lynn. After the match, the fans gave Punk a standing ovation, and chanted "Please come back," as well as "Thank you Punk."

The event was filmed by Smart Mark Video for home video release, with commentary by Dave Prazak, CM Punk, Jim Fannin, Trik Davis, and Mark Wolf. Scroll down for digital images from the show.

Before the match, Priest told McClure that he wasn't happy with his recent attitude change, and he needs to remember what he was taught to do. After the match concluded, Priest continued to put the boots to McClure until TRIK DAVIS made the save. Just as Chandler got back to his feet, he attacked Davis, and was quickly joined by Priest. What the hell is a Taliban Backpack lungblower?

It's John Walters' Lungblower/double knees to the back thingy, only without the straitjacketing of the arms, and Josh leaps from behind the guy from the top rope instead of the ground.

The explanation for the move name, via Chris Hero on commentary at Simply the Best 6, is that terrorists often put bombs into backpacks to conceal them. Abercrombie looks like a backpack when he rides an opponent's back during the move. Put two and two together...and there you go.
