snuffbox 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2005 Here is the link to the transcript of Secretary Rumsfeld on Meet the Press. I thought it was a very good interview and Rumsfeld again proved himself to be among the only candid/intelligent/somewhat honest people in the upper-echelon of the current Republican leadership in America. But, read the transcript yourself, and discuss...the interview with Bono is included as well. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8332675/
Justice 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2005 They are staking a great deal on the outcome of this, and I think the progress is impressive, and we just have to recognize that it's tough, it's difficult. But the terrorists have no vision, they have no Ho Chi Minh, they have no Mao, they don't have any cause. Zarqawi is a Jordanian, he's a foreigner. They're killing Iraqi people and they're opposing an elected Iraqi government. That isn't any long-term formula for success. There's an excellent point right there. Rumsfeld made a pretty damn good case for Iraq.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2005 Sometimes I wonder if Rumsfeld has a complete monopoly on sense, communication and integrity in the neo-con powerbase. His reaction/handling of Russert's final question about Rove's comments was classic.
Justice 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2005 Yeah, that entire interview seemed booby-trapped against him. It seemed like Russert was pretty intent on trapping him on more than a few questions.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2005 I really doubt Russert was trying to trap him. Russert is a good interviewer who throws hardballs at all his guests.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 Rumsfeld's been a guy I kinda like ever since the prison scandal and that time he really did get trapped answering questions from soldiers. Those evened him out by showing how ugly getting into the political side of his job could be, I think.
