Finally! Kurt Angle DVD announced...

Recommended Posts

Angle vs. Rikishi (KOTR 2000) --- GONE! CUT! BYE BYE!

Angle vs. The Rock (No Mercy 2000)

Angle vs. Stone Cold (Summerslam 2001)

Angle vs Hulk Hogan (KOTR 2002)

Angle & Benoit vs Mysterio & Edge (No Mercy 2002)

Angle vs. Benoit (RR 2003) --- GONE! CUT! BYE BYE!

Angle vs. Lesnar (WM19)

Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero (Summerslam 2004)

Angle vs. HBK (WM 21)

Angle vs. Flair (Raw, June 2005)

I agree with these, except the CUTS! I made, because Angle/Benoit has been available on WAYYY too many DVDS to count and the two have had so many excellent matches, this won't hurt it too much. The Rikishi match sucked, and can be highlighted in the main program. It was short too. But throw on a few more...

* Kurt Angle v. Shawn Stasiak - Survivor Series 1999

This is his first ever pay per view, and I believe his first match in the E. Not exactly a classic, but nothing terribly wrong with it.

* Kurt Angle v. Chris Jericho - No Way Out 2000

I believe this was Angle's first title win on Pay-Per-View. I'm not sure if he won the European title after or before this, but either way I think this is important. Pretty damn good match for the time given as well.

* Kurt Angle v. Chris Benoit - Wrestlemania 17

This match was AWESOME. Probably 1/4* at most, lower than Royal Rumble 2003. At most, and some may even like this better. And it needs to be on here, instead of the Royal Rumble 2003 match which is already on 3 or 4 DVDs.

* Kurt Angle v. Chris Benoit - Unforgiven 2002

You know the drill. Just as good as the other matches, and not pakced on 10,000 DVDS.

* Kurt Angle v. Marty Jannetty - Smackdown 2003

I REALLY liked this match. And honestly, I liked it better than 1 of the HBK/Angle matches. However all three were very good, and shows just what Angle still has.

* Kurt Angle v. Shawn Michaels - Vengenace 2004

Good match. Nothing wrong here at all. You get both HBK matches, with two different styles. Everyone will be happy.

* Kurt Angle v. Shane McMahon - King of the Ring 2001

Fun match that definately isn't the normal style for Angle. Shane takes the beating of his life, and the match is definately good and entertaining. This is a definate must.

Match I'd want, but theres NO CHANCE in getting it;

* Kurt Angle v. Charlie Haas - Smackdown 2003.

- This match was awesome. (Charlie was still in WGTT, and Angle ditched them after coming back). This was one of the best TV Matches, I've ever seen. It's really too bad WWE probably considers Haas a nobody (proven with his release), so the chances of this match making it are slim. Match was FANTASTIC and probably the best TV match of 2003.

I think the only thing that would make a Kurt Angle DVD worthwhile is if they included some amateur or house show matches (he wrestled a year worth of dark matches). Something different. Or a lot of TV. Because otherwise the stuff is too accessible.

Angle vs. Benoit from Royal Rumble 2003 has been available on two DVDs (RR 2003 and Benoit's DVD). That hardly qualifies as "WAYYY too many DVDs to count."

I don't really get the "it's already been on another DVD, so don't use it" argument. If a person doesn't own RR 2003 or Hard Knocks: The Chris Benoit Story, but plans to buy an Angle DVD, the Angle vs. Benoit match would be a welcome addition for him/her.

The thing with putting a match on too many DVDs is, if someone owns a match on DVD and then that same match appears on a DVD they were potentially going to buy, they may not buy that DVD because they already have that match and were hoping to get another match that they do not have already on DVD.

So yes, the RR03 match would be welcome to those who don't have either the RR03 or Chris Benoit DVD, but it would not be welcomed by someone who already has either of those like myself. And if you are the WWE, you obviously want to cater to the audience that buys the most DVDs. So that means putting out as many different matches on DVDs as you can so the audience will hopefully keep buying them.

I agree 100 percent , I think the people who buy a Benoit Dvd are going to be the same people who buy an Angle dvd.

BTW Angle won the Euro title first on Smackdown from Venis in Feb, then later that month at No Way Out beat Jericho (by holding up the eruo title as Jericho went for the lionsault with the ref knocked down) to become a dual champ.

Of course you should also add the segment where Angle appeared at the ECW Arena, now that Angle won't mind and all.

and If they can get some footage of the olympics legally then they shoudl add that as well, his gold medal winning match on the DVD would make it a must own alone.

Angle vs. Benoit (RR 2003) --- GONE! CUT! BYE BYE!

My reason for wanting the RR2003 match is because, in my opinion, its the best match he ever had. Plus, he won clean. I'm a mark for a clean finish.

Now, if for the sake of argument you think the WMX7 or Unforgiven 2002 matches with Benoit were better, then include them instead in your list.

* Kurt Angle v. Shane McMahon - King of the Ring 2001

Fun match that definately isn't the normal style for Angle. Shane takes the beating of his life, and the match is definately good and entertaining. This is a definate must.

Yes, I should have included that one.

Personally, I think that saying Angle/Rikishi should be gotten rid of to make room for Angle/Stasiak kind of undermines your argument. Both matches are poor, and can only serve as historical curiosities. Who really *needs* to see the matches on a Kurt Angle DVD in their complete form (particularly when they eat up valuable DVD time that could be used for better matches)? Angle/Edge from Judgment Day 2002 has *at least* as much historical value for Kurt's career as Angle/Stasiak, and I doubt anyone is clamouring for *that* to be included.

Anyway, I agree with Brian that they need to include some of Angle's rare TV matches (along with the obvious, but easily accessible PPV matches) to entice the buyer. Angle vs Undertaker from SD 2003, for one. Tack on a few of those to Y2Jerk's list and then that would be a DVD I'd buy.

The Rikishi match, was REALLY bad. It was really poor, and very short (about 5 minutes). It could be highlighted during the program, showing him win King of the Ring, and him talking about the history of that. The Full match, really isn't needed. As seriously, it wasn't EXTREMELY important.

I was under the impression, the Stasiak match was his first WWF(E) match. I love having wrestlers Debuts. Flair's WWF Debut wasn't very good, but its fun to watch a couple of times just to see how he progressed and where he's at now. Also, to me, the Stasiak match wasn't that bad. From memory, I believe I had the match at around **1/4. Not great, but definately not bad like the Rikishi match (which I had at like 1/2* maybe). It was also a bit longer as well.

I do agree with the TV Matches, which is why I wanted the Charlie Haas Smackdown match. I thought it was AWESOME. The Smackdown! match against Taker, a TV match against Austin from 2001 I believe, as well as maybe a Team Angle match (Angle, Haas, Benjamin vs. someone).. and possibly to round out an even 20 go with a team ECK match (Angle, Christian, Edge vs. someone).

Oh and now that I think about it, the Edge match is rather important. But I'd save that for an Edge DVD, as they could highlight that part of his career in the program as well. About becoming bald.

That's 20 matches (which would be an amazing set, ahead of the 15 matches on the Benoit DVD, and 19 on the Road Warriors DVD)

OH!!!

- As far as promos/segments go, here's what I think would be needed (From Memory)

** First promo in the company.

** A couple of promos during his intital heel run, talking about how great he is and how he was undefeated.

** Some TEAM ECK Promos. (The promo with Christian singing "Your Bald! Your Bald! Your Bald!" is a definate classic, and HAS to be included).

** One of two of his funny ass promos from the Invasion (Jimmy Cracked Corn anyone??)

A few other promos would be aweosme as well, but the Christian promo HAS to be on this.

Not just the rare TV matches, but it helps. I'm hoping they have at least one or two things extra to put it over the top. Kurt has a very good but accessible body of work, but there's got to be more to it. Heck, when Vince was using UPW and Bassman as a feeder/training center like OVW, he showed up there in 9/13/00. I've been going through my tapes lately and that's how I saw this, but he cuts a great promo at the start of the show (shuffling between his style of speech and playing with ebonics) was also game to let Chris Daniels take him through for ten minutes plus and they have a very good little match. There must be some house show or dark match footage lying around somewhere, so we can get an indication of how much he work and how far he came, as well as something rare and different to the mix.

I would put ECK vs Rikishi and Too Cool from Judgment Day 2000, if you want a six man tag of theirs, cuz it was a fun match with a way hot crowd, just be sure to keep the entrances, where ECK did a 5 second pose dressed as a "Jug Band" cuz they were in Kentucky (and Christian called the City LOUISVille-Like the name Louis)

Yeah, I see you're point.

I think the Unforgiven match probably should have been on the Benoit DVD, since he won it. The whole reason for including the RR2003 match on a Benoit disk (besides the quality of it) would be the standing ovation he got...which wasn't even included on the DVD. :angry:

I'd rather them put the WMX7 match on a Kurt DVD than Unforgiven, since Kurt won the WMX7 match.

For me, I would include:

- Angle Vs. Edge from Backlash 2002

- Either the 4th of July 2002 Angle / Undertaker title match or the September 2003 title match, both from SD as I enjoyed them very much.

- There was a fun match back in 2003, I forgot the date, between Kurt Angle & The Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar & John Cenaon SD I'd like to see on the DVD.

- Also the Angle Vs. Big Show / TWGTT handicapped match in July.

- Definitely the Vengeance 2003 Triple Threat match, one of the best triple threat PPV main events ever.

- As well as the Angle / Lesnar Iron Man Match although I guess you could save that for the next Brock Lesnar DVD.

- And finally the Angle / Guerrero match from WM 20 which I liked better than their SS rematch.

There is still the discussion with the Best of Fully Loaded/InVasion/Vengeance DVD.

And the Kurt Angle/Benoit 2/3 Falls match NEEDS to be on the DVD. Great match, great angle...

Funny how I have evey match listed here on DVD and VHS(I also have the majority of Raw and Smackdowns! from 98-now). There would be no reason for me at all to buy this, unless the main part of the DVD was good.

Funny how I have evey match listed here on DVD and VHS(I also have the majority of Raw and Smackdowns! from 98-now). There would be no reason for me at all to buy this, unless the main part of the DVD was good.
