I can't honestly believe that they planned this whole thing out 3 months ago.

 

What PROBABLY happened was that management realized after the weeks and weeks of "we want Matt" chant that maybe the crowd actually wanted Matt. They did the titantron gag during the wedding segment as a trail balloon. Of course it got a monster pop, and THEN the decision was made to bring him back.

I wasn't here to read all of the thoughts about this in the RAW thread, so I'll post it here.

 

Was it just me, or has Matt gotten quite a bit larger since the last time he was in WWE? I haven't seen him since then, and I know it hasn't been that long ago, but still. The guy looked like he's been doing nothing but training and working out, getting ready to make a HUGE comeback. Just like I thought all those years ago, and especially now, I could see him being a major player in WWE. I never thought Jeff would be the breakout star like most people did to start with.

He's still pretty tiny compared to most. He went from being a spot-based character to cruiserweight champ to jobbing to Zack Gowan.

 

The question at this point is whether or not fans will buy into him as a wrestler. If he is going to get a substansial push I'd expect a moveset cut and a weak pace to "tell a story". Edge being a recent example of this, even though he isn't as good as Matt.
