The OAO Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Thread

Recommended Posts

I saw a matinee yesterday for $3.50 (Cheapest movie ticket I've bought in years). It was well worth the money. An entertaining little flick, I had my doubts but I enjoyed it. I thought Tim Burton was going to do another shitty remake but he proved me wrong thankfully.

Was it worth $3.50? You bet!

I thought it was a good movie, but utterly forgettable. There's no way that it becomes the classic that Wonka is.

That said, the general consensus amongst people I know is that they HATED the movie. Seriously, I have not heard a positive review from any of my friends or co-workers. I don't if anyone else is hearing the same, but I thought it was interesting,

We saw Charlie and Batman at a drive-in double feature. Even my wife, an elementary school teacher, preferred Batman.

Liking Batman Begins more doesn't really prove anything.

It would be different if she liked a shitty movie more, but she liked what most are calling the best movie this Summer.

I enjoyed Charlie quite a bit, not sure what I thought of Depp's bizarre performance in it though.

I assume Y2Jerk meant that Charlie was something his wife would be more inclined to like than Batman Begins. And if Begins is the best movie of the summer this summer is a bit...underwhelming. I liked it well enough but didn't find it jaw dropping or anything.

I watched this for free the other day and was thoroughly satisfied.

I like the fact that they updated the kids a little bit. The parodies of an overachiever and beastly child of technology were very entertaining, I thought. The fuckin' squirrells were fantastic.

Everything in this room is eatable. Even I'm eatable. But that, my dear children, is called cannibalism, and is frowned upon in most societies.

That was one of the best parts of the movie.
