RedJed 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 I'd say that most smarks (including myself) enjoy JBL's mic work. I just don't want to see him with the title again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Speak for yourself. JBL's promos are boring and repetitive. I also don't get the fascination with continuing to push this guy. I know some people like him now, but I still think he's horrible and a chore to watch. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dont think he would be so bad if he wasnt in the main event and as such a focus of Smackdown in general. As its been said before, how long do you give a guy before you give up as he's not drawing? JBL needs a serious push down the ladder and into midcard land or at very worst, the upper midcard. To be perfectly honest, there is a ready made feud there with the BWO right now they could have went with instead of Batista. Or even feuding with Benoit wouldnt be so bad. To boot he's got a sidekick who is even worse than him as far as the company shoving him down our collective throats.
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 But when will Heidenreich become a drunk and fall off the titantron? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When they have Droz show up and starts selling drugs to him from his wheelchair.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 OK, so Animal seems happy to go along with this, but I'm finding it kind of unsettling that a comic character is being used to 'replace' a dead wrestler in storyline terms.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Anyone who wants to defend JBL should try and counter this argument: Would Smackdown have been a lot better had Eddie simply retained against JBL and continued his title run? The answer, unequivocably, would be yes. Besides, if they were going to push some veteran bum out of nowhere, why not push Bob Holly instead? Holly had at least gotten a PPV title match against Lesnar (and was reasonably over in that feud), and he's a better wrestler anyway. I know Holly is a complete cock backstage but does get some sort of reaction from the crowd. The only interesting feud with JBL at this point would be if they brought back Ron Simmons, now bitter that he was fired and his loser partner went on to the title. The matches would suck of course, but at least the feud on paper might be interesting.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted July 27, 2005 So, pushing JBL is bad --- but they should push BOB HOLLY?!?!? Umm, yeah. Eddy was having problems handling the pressure of being the champ.
Guest BrokenWings Report post Posted July 27, 2005 If Eddie jobs at SS, I'll cry. Why couldn't they just have Eddie win at GAB, reveal the secret and still do the rematch at SS? At least Eddie would have one win in the whole feud. When people are paying $35 to at least partially see the secret get revealed, only to have it not be, and then revealed on free television four days later is bullshit, and that's how you piss off your audience. And then they wonder why buyrates and such are down. So, what's going to happen at SS? Eddie wins, and they drag the feud out further, or Rey wins, and it's basically been a six month squash in his favor?
RedJed 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Here is some more details about the Rey-Eddy segment on Smackdown from pwtorch.com. I dont think it was really suggested much prior in the spoilers, but they are going with that Eddy and Rey's wife did in fact screw and it wasnt that the kid was adopted from Eddy screwing some random girl which is how I took the initial spoiler. Rey Mysterio and Dominic come out to the ring, next. Rey thanks the fans for the support on the behalf of Dominic and himself. Guerrero's music hits and he enters the arena. Rey basically in an angered tone asks "what he's doing out here." Eddie says that "regardless of what happens, he always wins in the end." He promised Rey and his own wife to let things be if he was beat at the Bash, but he lied." Rey bull rushes him, but before he can get to him on the top of the ramp way, Eddie blurts out to Dominick and the world that he's his father. Rey rushes back to Dominic to see how he's doing and hugs him, as the fans mercilessly chant "who's your daddy." Dominic forces his way out of the hug and goes off through the crowd. Rey follows him. Guerrero says that "Rey ran off because he didn't want to hear the story, but he knew that the fans here did." Eddie got many cheers from the Rochesterian fans tonight. He tells the ring announcer "to get off of his 'fat ass' and bring him his chair." He says "this is Eddie's bedtime story, chapter one." He refers to his demons in the past and how he used to "sleep with many different women during a period where him and his wife where separated." He said "during that time, Rey and his wife where unable to make a baby because Rey was shooting blanks." Eddie says "he offered his services and thus Eddie and Rey's wife created Dominic." He said, "If you think that was all, wait until next week for chapter 2." ----Yikes.

Granted, he's bad in the ring, but his character cancels out that fact for me. As I've said before, he should stay FAR away from the WWE title, but I wouldn't mind him being U.S. champion. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2005 In the first time in forever, WWE.com actually put somewhat of a SmackDown spoiler on their main site: In the category of "how low can one person go," Eddie Guerrero is the undisputed champ. Last Sunday at The Great American Bash, Rey Mysterio defeated Eddie Guerrero. When little Dominick leapt into his father's arms, it seemed that both Rey and Dominick were finally free from the nightmare of the last several weeks. The deep dark family secret would remain untold forever. Except for one thing... Eddie lied. At SmackDown!, with Dominick by his side, Mysterio was clearly elated to be moving forward. Enter Eddie Guerrero. Guerrero just can't seem to get enough of his "new drug of choice, manipulation". In one of the biggest slimeball moves in recent memory, Eddie Guerrero revealed the secret. But first he made sure it hurt as much as possible. It's hard to argue about the curiosity factor, but this was difficult to witness. Guerrero took pleasure sticking one knife after another into the heart of the Mysterio family. He emasculated Rey, embarrassed Rey's wife, and with malicious intent, he emotionally scarred an innocent child. http://www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/secret

Downhome 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2005 I just saw this headline at PWInsider: LOOKING AT A 'WHERE'S BATISTA?' EDITION OF SMACKDOWN and it just sorta shocked me. I didn't even notice, not even for a second, that Batista didn't even show up on the show at all. I'm not sure what that says about me, him, SD, or all of the above. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2005 Unless Batista had a reason not to be there, it shows WWE are idiots for not including their champion to help escalate the top feud for the SD brand.

claydude14 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2005 Maybe not appearing on camera was punishment for the debacle of a main event at the Bash. Their dark match once cameras were off was a lot faster and shorter than the Bash match is how it should've been booked on Sunday, not in the Tuesday dark match.
