The Metal Maniac Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I hate Oasis. I've always hated Oasis. I'm not quite sure that I can explain why, except to say that their music just sounds bad to me.
KTID Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 From experience, i find that those who hate Oasis are the snoby sensitive indie types for whom Oasis remind them of the type of kids that bully/bullied them at school.
Carnival Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Is that anything like Eddie Vedder syndrome? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Symptoms include...? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thinking you can save the world, much like bono. Not to diss eddie, cuz i like pearl jam.
Rendclaw Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 They had a chance to be the true second coming the Beatles, but they killed that the moment Noel said that they were better than the Beatles. Understand this, I dislike the Beatles, but I cannot deny their place in musical history or their significance. To have this band who back then were just getting their feet wet in the US to say that killed it for me. They could have made it huge, but that arrogance hamstrung them. Like GnR, they could have been so much better than they ended up being.

Nighthawk Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 A Guns N Roses comparison is fair, but Oasis were far bettter than them. I mean, sure, they're sterotypical rockstar assholes, and so is Axl Rose, but Noel is peerless on the pop shit. Dude can arrange and write like a mafucker. Oasis' last album was pretty damn good, showed they've still got it, while Axl had lightning in a bottle.
PLAGIARISM! Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 From experience, i find that those who hate Oasis are the snoby sensitive indie types for whom Oasis remind them of the type of kids that bully/bullied them at school. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Interesting. I liked Oasis when I was at school.

You'd have to be one hell of a pussy to be intimidated by the Gallagher brothers
Nighthawk Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 But many sensitive indie types are a hell of a pussy. Or... hells of pussies. I'm not sure how I should phrase that.
Slayer Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Maybe, but the Gallagher brothers aren't exactly up there with, say, Kerry King in terms of intimidating appearance
Carnival Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 But Liam can be a big enough asshole to make someone break down and cry.
The Czech Republic Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 As for the topic. Love a lot of their tunes, but can't listen to em because I dislike them as people so much. I refer to this as Oasis Syndrome. Limp Bizkit and the Smashing Pumpkins suffer from Oasis Syndrome. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, but Limp Bizkit isn't unlistenable because Fred Durst is a cocksucker, Limp Bizkit is unlistenable because they're really really bad.

Their lack of talent, IMO, is just money in the bank. But I can't help but crank up Pollution or Behind Blue Eyes when it comes on. Over the long haul? Not a fucking chance, though.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 CanadianGuitarist made me have a seizure.

For the record, I'm neither snobby nor overly sensitive (well, maybe in the teeth), I don't like indie music (assuming that's what you meant) and I wasn't bullied at school; their music just grates on my ears.
