HHH and Ric Flair's return date to TV announced

Recommended Posts

In term of main event age, Benoit is "younger" than Triple H and Shawn Michaels. He deserved a decent run with the belt, so that when he dropped it, he would be in a better position to "put people over" by having credibility to do so.

Yeah but the thing is Orlando Jordan FUCKING SUCKS. He's not the future, he ain't shit. If anything he's worse and more heatless than he was when he debuted as a total jobber. I can assure most everyone that once he jobs the US title to whomever he won't even be on Smackdown at all, aside from maybe the occasional JBL lackey role type stuff.

In regards to MNM, isn't it odd for Benoit to job to them when they themselves just jobbed to friggin Animal and Heidenreich? It's not like Benoit has all this rub anyway, the guy is a career journeyman who has had his 1 cup of coffee in the main event. I'm not saying Benoit should be a perennial main eventer, but jobbing him to total bums like Orlando Jordan is insulting.

HHH has gotten even smarter with time. More subtle in his burying. Benoit was never destined to be a long term main event guy, so HHH had no problems jobbing to him since he's highly respected. I would imagine the plan to shift Batista over to Smackdown had been in place for a while, so HHH probably didn't care about jobbing to him either. See, before with guys like RVD, Kane, and Booker HHH would bury them and after the feud they would proceed to do nothing of note. With Benoit, HHH jobbed a few times and after that feud Benoit proceeded to do jack shit.

Don't forget that unlike Jericho and RVD, Benoit was never a real long term threat to Triple H.

HHH had nothing to lose by laying down to Benoit a couple times because ultimately, HHH came out the real winner in the eyes of his own and the fans.

Benoit wasn't really given the run with the title, he continued to play second fiddle to Triple H.

Also, Triple H was smart keeping Benoit "good" over him because Triple H knows he should have an ace in the hole for rainy day booking.

I don't remember his feud with Eugene ever being out of the spotlight, I think it was just as featured as the Benoit-Orton title feud.

It was actually billed as being something major. RAW's 2nd biggest match on the 2nd biggest PPV of the year.

Benoit had tons of credibility exiting their feud, and still looked like he was a major player when he re-debuted on Smackdown. If the idiot Smackdown booking team couldn't find anything for him to do, and then decided to start putting him on Velocity, I really fail to see how it's HHH's fault.

Also, how can you say that HHH is "at the top level" right now. He jobbed three months ago, and his credibility was so shot that he had to leave Raw. If you look at in kayfabe terms, he basically left the show because he wasn't good enough anymore/got beat up so bad by Batista. If he returns and has his first feud back with Cena, then maybe I'll cede the point, but for now, I think that it's completely unwarranted.

A major player on RAW before jumping to SD? What did he do between August and the draft?

Question for you, Iggy:

Doesn't it hurt when you shit out of your mouth?

LOL. Your hillarious Porter.

My point is that he had credibility with the crowd when he came to Smackdown. They all bought him as a major player, and were like "wow, Benoit's on Smackdown now, I wonder if he's going to be their next champ?"

That was because of what HHH did for him.

If the booking crew on Smackdown then decides to treat Benoit like shit, job him to Orlando Jordan, and give him appearances on Velocity, then that has nothing to do with what HHH did for him from Wrestlemania through Bad Blood the previous year.

Note the cause and effect difference there. Your argument is tantamount to saying that the reason that Orton didn't get over as champ is that Benoit didn't put him over right. Benoit did everything that he could, it was the booking afterward that hurt him.

The only reason the crowd popped for Benoit was because he was the new guy. They face popped for HHH in the 1st draft too.

The crowd pops for Chris Benoit because he's Chris Benoit and fans respect him more than about any other wrestler on the roster save maybe Angle. Benoit has had good heat for years. There is something more legitimate about Benoit than most wrestlers.

I'd rather see HHH on my TV, as the world champ, than ever seen John Cena and Edge. I don't care what anyone thinks about it either, I just dislike those two guys that much.

I like how DH has to bring in his hate for Edge in this thread.

We get it, you don't like Edge, despite the fact that you mark for seemingly every other wrestler on the planet.

I know Cena is over, I just couldn't care less about that fact. I don't give a shit if someone is over or not, I just know who I like and who I don't like, and right now, I HATE Cena.

You hate him, but there are thousands of people who love him and go to house shows just to see him wrestle and who buy all his merchandise.

And eventually those people will stop caring. Even the biggest Cena supporters can admit this: He is not going to get more over then he currently is therefore he can only slide downward from here.

Why should any of that matter at all to me? It's the same thing where people hate Hulk Hogan especially when he was at his very top. If everyone else in the world loved Cena except for me, I'd still hate him right now.
