Guest wildpegasus Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 So what's the average age of wrestling fans these days? Who's watching and who's not watching? We're mainly talking about WWE here but if someone wants to talk about any league at all go right on ahead. My brother wants to know and I'm not exactly sure myself so I just thought I may as well ask this question here and promote some discussion. Please answer before he goes to bed.
CanadianChick Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 I thought a ratings analysis a while ago showed middle aged men were the main audience.
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 I thought it was males in their late 20s and 30s, but you probably can remember better than I can. Regardless, it is a much older audience than it was pre-2001. This is partly why nostalgia acts are so popular (like Hogan). The main audience is old enough to remember these guys. It also makes the childish storylines even more counterproductive.
Jericholic82 Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 That's basically true, but there are still lots of young kids who are fans, judging by the live crowds and the merchandise sales.
Guest Phate Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 I really don't know. WWE has some storylines aimed at adults, and some aimed at children, so its pretty difficult to work out what their target demographic should be. On my forums the average age of fans there is around 16-17. We have some people older than that (like me) and some people younger, but that seems to be the main age. Phate
daileyxplanet Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I was in 5th grade when I started watching, which was the height of the Monday Night War.
Coolclint Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 This is about right, unless you're Dutch Mantell, who thinks it's Grandma Bluehairs.
